About this listen
For as long as she can remember Millie has had her limits. Staying within them keeps her isolated, safe; helps her to cope. Why then have they started to feel so stifling? Why is her loneliness starting to rival her fears?
When she watches him she wishes she could be normal; she wishes she could be like the people he interacts with so seamlessly. Pavlos Martakis is her complete and total opposite: physically intimidating, likable, naturally attractive, extremely confident, sexually promiscuous: the most uninhibited, charming, outgoing and free person she has ever encountered in her life. He fascinates Millie; thrills and intimidates her in equal measure.
But, as the culprit behind the invention of her nickname Nuclear Winter, Millie knows that if Pav feels anything for her it is more than likely contempt. Cold, boring, robotic: that is how the rest of the hospital sees her. So she can safely watch him from afar. He would never notice her…would he?
This book is a full-length, standalone contemporary romance of approximately 90,000 words.

If you loved the book, you will love this.
As soon as I found out this audio book was out I bought it, even though that meant buying an extra credit! I had a 7 hour car journey over the next two days so the timing was perfect.
I love this book, Susie Tate is one of my favourite authors. I thought the narrator was brilliant, It was easy to tell who was talking, her voice for Pav was great not jarring in the least. There’s a few accents to tackle here, British as well as a bit of Scottish and Greek. The narrator did brilliantly.
I finished this book over two days and I know I will listen to it again. The question is now will Susie’s other books be recorded? If the answer is yes then I will definitely be buying those as well.

Another emotional rollercoaster
I love how neurodiversity is portrayed and celebrated in Susie’s books and this brings it to the forefront. An emotional rollercoaster of tears and laughter. Love love love.

Absolutely lovely
This story is down right amazing. It deals with anxiety, high intelligence and mental abuse in a real and often beautiful way. The MFC of Millie is amazing and her personal development regarding her debilitating shyness and anxiety throughout the book and her sad backstory is a work of art. The MMC Pav is her total opposite always the loud extrovert, always the center of attention and when they start falling for each other it’s not just Millie that needs to change her ways (which often os the case) but also Pav has to grow and develop for their relationship to have any hopes of enduring. The supporting characters are also amazing. It really feels like you get to know all of them without it taking away from the main story.
The writing is excellent and the prose flows nicely throughout. Combined with masterful narration that creates excellent character portrayals both male and female, Greek and British, young and old I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who wants a story filled with substance and charm.

Very Mills and Boonesque
It is pretty predictable and twee but would make a good Notting Hill type film …
