About this listen

This book will introduce St. Clare of Assisi to those who do not know her and those who wish to know her better. It leads the listener from Clare's birth to her death. While taking account of modern scholarship, Sr. Margaret Carney tells the story of this medieval woman in a way listeners today can understand.

Very good if flawed

I just wish it was longer. It felt like the first draft of a longer and better book. It would also benefit from a clearer choice between hagiography and historical lens. It felt like it fell between two stools. But I enjoyed it very much and was moved at times. The narration had some extreme vowel sounds to a British ear but that# of the nature of audio books. I would recommend.

A truly wonderful portrait of Clare.

This is a beautifully written portrait of Clare - the most complete one I have read and revealing so many new facts. This book brings Clare to life more than any other I have read and reveals her as a truly beautiful human being. At times you find yourself deeply moved, particularly as regard her relationship with Francis and also the description of the end her life. Very highly recommended.
