About this listen

Ben wasn't brought up, he was dragged up.

With absent parents and broken friends, a young Ben makes choices that are ruining his life. Before he’s even 20, Ben’s spells in prison begin, and soon he finds himself involved in serious crime. When people begin to die, Ben must choose a side.

But is this really the life Ben wants, or is there a way out of this vicious cycle? Is he destined to fulfil his fate of being once a prisoner, always a prisoner? Or can Ben swap a life on the inside, for one with hope on the outside?

Ross Greenwood is back with this shocking glimpse into the criminal underworld.

This book was previously published as The Boy Inside.

Great narration

Not sure about the title. The story wasn’t as strong as some I have listened to by this author. However it did reach a decent conclusion.

Maybe my favourite book yet.

I’ve listened to a lot of audible books. This one might be the best yet. Definitely my favourite narrator. David Thorpe cannot be beaten. I recommend searching his name for his other books. The John Milton series is a must!

Excellent read

Ross Greenwood has an ability to put an extremely good read together. You become drawn into the story by the characters and the Excellent narration. Serious issues coupled with humour. I found myself chuckling at the one liners and laughing out loud at many of the situations. This is the second one I have read in this series now I am looking forward to enjoying book 3.

Wow! Not what I expected…

It was better!
The book starts 3/4 of the way into Ben’s chaotic alarming fun and sometimes incredibly sad life. 20 minutes in I was hooked and wanting to listen longer than I had time for. Things happened that I didn’t expect. I really had no idea where the story would go. The pace allowed the story to flow with ease. I loved the narration Ben and co really do have 3 dimensional characters that come alive. There’s plenty of humour too. I certainly laughed out loud more than a dozen times. As much as I have loved the Barton series Snow Killer Ice Killer to Fire Killer I have found the two stand alone books just brilliant! Prisoner 12 months on is still in my mind and I am sure Ben and Lifer will be the same. 5 stars all the way for me!
