Summary
A standalone angsty second-chance married couple romance set in the Reflections universe from best-selling author, A.L. Woods.
Dougie
Rich girl, poor boy.
It was the oldest story.
Yet it was ours.
I knew Penelope was different the moment I laid eyes on her.
But all she wanted was to be friends-with-benefits.
My best friend told me not to mess around with the new girl.
He didn’t say anything about marrying her.
Or what might happen if we broke our vows.
Penelope
I was the rebellious trust fund baby.
The one who threw the finger to her parents.
I designed a life I loved.
No rules, no expectations.
Something easy.
Dougie didn’t want easy, he wanted commitment.
Babies, marriage, the postcard perfect house in the ‘burbs.
The life. It was all ours.
Until it wasn’t.
All we had now were lies and betrayal.
Lies that might just cost us everything.

So freaking good 🖤
I have previously read Lies when it was first released and fell in love with it. The characters, the plot, the way it’s written, I loved it all. As soon as I saw Lies was becoming an audiobook, I jumped straight on the preorder button! Lilly and Logan have done an incredible job at bringing the characters to life. I’m so ready for all of Amanda’s books to become audiobooks🤩

Such an amazing book I need more of a.l.woods!!
As usual I didn't read a summary, I just flowed with the book, as soon as I found out the audio was out I had to try it especially since this book was on my TBR.
What I didn't expect was that this book would sweep me away to such a degree that I was captivated by it for 3 days.
I couldn't stop, I kept listening at work, on the roads, while cleaning for Passover.
An unusual, special, immersive, realistic book that crushes and reconnects.
This is the story of Douglas and Penelope - but it is also the story of many couples around the world.
The story is divided into two : 3 years ago and present time.
Douglas has his eye on the new employee, Penelope, his boss Shawn warns him not to mix business with pleasure, but Douglas has another plan - Penelope will be his wife 💍
But as soon as you jump 3 years forward, all the love, excitement, affection is drained away and remains empty - Douglas walks around the house like a ghost, an emotional, despairing void.
And Penelope is bitter, angry, disturbed and broken.
What happened? How could it be that in 3 years the house they built together crumbles?
This book was a couple journey but I felt like I was with them all the way, Dougie and Penny crushed me.
They went through so much, together and separately, I saw how everything affects like a butterfly effect that brought them to the situation they live in today.
It took me a few days to digest and think about this book, which has become one of my favorites and which I won't get out of my head anytime soon.
And what I loved about it was the imperfection, the realism, so many emotions were squeezed out of me.
If you are looking for an unusual book, very realistic, painful but guaranteed to make your heart whole again - then please give this book a chance.
This book left a mark on my heart like few have - Amanda, thank you so much for this book, I also enjoyed talking to you about it in private, you are such a talented woman and I admire you for writing such a unique and yet so familiar book.
Can't wait to read more of your books, you left me wanting more❤️

Hard going
This book was hard going I’m not going to lie. I found it hard as it deals with so many issues that couples go through. It’s very emotional and frustrating. Why people don’t talk to their partners baffles me. A heartfelt performance.

Emotional ❤️🩹
One thing I am obsessed with in books is the switch between last and present in chapters. It makes the story 100 times better for me and creates such depth and a backstory I can get behind. Mistakes were made, arguments, passion, and heartbreak and I could feel it from the characters. Dougie was a complex character who at times, had me on the edge of my seat with his choices 😭 and Penelope was well thought out and likeable. I thoroughly enjoyed this wild ride!
