About this listen
A gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist!
We're going to tell our story and then it will all stop and Mummy will be safe. You want Mummy to be safe, don't you?
Three minutes. That's all it takes for Meredith's entire world to fall apart when she watches the videotape of her four-year-old self with Becca, the mother she's never known.
Meredith can't believe what her eyes have seen. Yet what if her memory has locked away the painful reality of her childhood? Can there be any truth in the strange and dangerous story her mother forced her to tell on camera?
The search for answers leads Meredith to Darkwater Pool, the scene of the murder of a young woman, Cara, over 30 years ago. What could possibly be the link between her mother and the victim?
To find the truth Meredith must search through a past that is not her own. The problem is, she's not the only one looking....
A dark, compulsive psychological thriller that will keep you up all night. Perfect for fans of Paula Hawkins and Louise Jensen.

Struggled to get through it but the ending was good! Not as good as the silent wife which I listen to before this.

wow!! what a book!!
I really do like this authors books. by far one of the best I've purchased from her. it was a bit slow to start with but carried on listening. I'm so glad I did! had me guessing till the very end. Good storyline and good plot. not predictable like some books. lots of emotions and twists at the end. I found myself listening to this book, whenever I got a moment to. brilliant!!

Good story
I’ve read the other books by this author and preferred them. It’s still a good listen though.

Fantastic
I really loved this book, from start to finish, kept my interest all the way through, lots of twists and turns and nothing that you could have seen coming. The Natator was brilliant, so professional.

An Addictive Book
I must admit that my car radio is now almost redundant as I listed to audible al the time. And this latest book by Jess Ryder has been the very best so far. The book is well styled and the plot was cleverly crafted and kept you guessing all the way through. There were even twists in the epilogue. I confess some of my journeys have been extended after driving round the block so I could finish a chapter.

Meh!
What would have made Lie to Me better?
A better story and characters
What was most disappointing about Jess Ryder’s story?
Just a bit meh and jumpy, I kept tuning out as I was bored or lost track of where the story was trying to go.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator was good, just the content was rather dull and ill thought out

Nothing like her other books
I really enjoyed the other books that I had listened to by this author , but I struggled to get through this one. the narrator didn't change her voice for the two main women characters which made it very confusing in parts as the time line went back and forth. The story was very far fetched with an extremly obvious twist at the end. If you have enjoyed some of the authors other gripping books then I'd advise you give this one a miss
