Summary
Want to expand your Mandarin Chinese vocabulary with almost no effort? Then keep listening.
Are you planning a trip to Asia? Or sharpening your skills for work? Just press play on this audiobook when you’re sleeping, meditating, or doing chores around the house.
Learn new vocabulary while actively listening, or passively while you’re doing other things.
This audiobook contains:
- More than 1000 common Mandarin words and phrases
- All original music (composed and performed by South African DJ and producer Spirante Beat) specifically to relax your mind
I'm sure your first question is: Can you actually learn a foreign language while you’re asleep? Well, according to a Swiss research study in 2014, the answer is unassailably, yes! In this study, a group of German speakers was given a list of unfamiliar Dutch words to study. Half were instructed to get some sleep, while they listened to long lists of Dutch words and translations. The other half was instructed to stay awake. Four hours later, they were tested, and the group that listened while sleeping had significantly higher recall. The study concluded that people can indeed absorb new information passively during non-REM sleep - which is the deep sleep we get in the first few hours of the night.
This audiobook is divided into six chapters, each with different kinds of vocabulary, and with different music. Choose a different chapter each night, or loop the audiobook to have a continuous stream. Some listeners - those with more experience with the foreign language - have reported that these recordings allow them to dream in that language!
Sit back, relax, enjoy, and learn!

Fantastic
I found this helpful because I was able to pick up the basics of mandarin during a busy day of work. I feel confident to speak the basics and it was all because I listened a few times while cooling down after a long day.

A great learning system!
This is a gentle way to learn Mandarin. I didn't realize I had learned so many new vocabulary words.
Excellent for someone who knows no Chinese words. I'll listen to it again and again!
Wow!!! That is a creative learning process.
Learning Chinese just got a bit easier, I think, and it saves time.
It can be challenging to learn a new language.
Older people struggle to learn new languages. Or is that just me!
OK, it is me!
Even if you don't know any language, you can learn it while you sleep. Excellent!

Good listening vocabulary
This is just what is says it is, a quick reading of words to increase your vocabulary. It is not possible to read while sleeping, of course, but anyways…

I enjoyed this one!
I like learning Mandarin in this soothing way. I didn't notice that I've learned so many new vocabulary words while chatting with my Chinese friend. Perfect for those who don't know a Chinese word at all. I'll listen more times to it!

Think Chinese is difficult to learn?
Chinese is a complex language and I always had issues with the intonation. Learning while I slept, gave me a better understanding because my subconscious mind picked up the nuances that I didn't get while trying to learn consciously. I highly recommend the audio book and everyone should try this out!
