Summary

Beast has been disfigured in a fire, but he's covered his skin with tattoos to make sure no one mistakes his scars for weakness. The accident not only hurt his body, but damaged his soul and self-esteem, so he's wrapped himself in a tight cocoon of violence and mayhem where no one can reach him.

Until one night, when he finds a young man covered in blood in their clubhouse. Sweet, innocent, and as beautiful as an angel fallen from heaven, Laurent pulls on all of Beast's heartstrings.

In 1805, Laurent has no family, no means, and his eyesight is failing. To escape a life of poverty, he uses his beauty, but that only backfires and leads him to a catastrophe that changes his life forever. He takes one step into the abyss and is transported to the future, ready to fight for a life worth living.

What he doesn't expect in his way is a brutal, gruff wall of tattooed muscle with a tender side that only Laurent is allowed to touch. And yet, if Laurent ever wants to earn his freedom, he might have to tear out the heart of the very man who took care of him when it mattered most.

Contains mature themes.

Interesting story

The concept is interesting and reasonable well written. The narration is good though not to my taste.

Intriguing concept that works surprisingly well

When I first read the blurb on this book when it came out I was a little sceptical about how it could work, well a time travelling French book clerk from 1805, Laurent makes a pact with the “devil” and ends up falling for a scarred, tattooed member of the Kings of Hell MC, Beast, in 2017?
However K.A. Merikan, as usual, managed to draw you into this world and make it work.
Now it’s out on audiobook with the ever so talented Joel Leslie narrating and I have to say what was previously a 5 star book has now been made into 6 stars!
Joel brought Laurent and Beast to life in a way books just cannot do for me, especially with Joel’s excellent French accent he used for Laurent and the way he spoke in that particular way you would expect from the period of time Laurent came from. I hope he continues to narrate the rest of the series.

I Loved this Book

This is the first time I've listened to anything by author. I was looking for anything narrated by Joel Leslie. I'm so pleased I found it. I love listening to Joel narrate anything. He always pulls you in. He made the book come to life.
This book had everything I love in a book. Good winning over evil, a really interesting plot & a HAE. I was hooked to the end. This is a sign of a good book.
One of the main characters wasn't the normal adonis with looks anyone cannot say no to, No he was a tortured soul & at least managed to find someone who saw beyond the scars.
I'm looking forward to see how this series pans out.
I would definitely recommend it.
