About this listen

DCI Matilda Darke is back. And it might be her most personal case yet.

‘Matilda Darke is the perfect heroine’ Elly Griffiths

FIVE PERFECT MURDERS

DCI Matilda Darke receives an anonymous email from someone claiming to have committed the perfect murder. Experience tells her this isn’t possible, but as she investigates, she discovers a killer questioning everything she’s ever known.

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT

Now, Matilda is on the trail of a murderer who targets the most vulnerable people in society. Apart from ‘With Sympathy…’ cards, hand delivered to the family of his victims, he leaves no trace of his crimes.

A KILLER’S DEADLY GAME

As the threat escalates, and those closest to Matilda are targeted, she finds herself isolated and alone in bringing down her opponent before it’s game over. After all, there can only be one winner in this game of cat-and-mouse, and the clock is ticking…

Epic twist

I eagerly awaited my book and it didn’t disappoint, having read all books I can never wait for the next installment.. the down side is I wanted to hear more about adele and what came next but there seemed a void from the last book to this one which eventually filled you in.
But for me that was really the only disappointment! As always the author kept us trying to guess all the way throughout and then left us hanging!
Please write the next one soon….

Wow, just Wow.

I was on tenterhooks for the whole book. Michael Wood has delivered another blinder. Had absolutely no idea who the killer was until the big reveal. i was jumping between 3 or 4 characters for the killer throughout. Also brilliantly performed once again - each character totally distinctive and recognisable. It's a shame I can only award 5 stars

Bring on the next one!

Absolutely loved this book, listened to the last few chapters several times as I couldn't believe it ended that way.
Thanks Michael for always leaving us wanting more!

Seriously?

I said I would ditch this ludicrous series after half of the characters were blown to smithereens by a gunman, including Matildas dad. This is now reaching the realms of absolute farce. Who the hell would put themselves through all of this, after previous family killings, being shot and then being kidnapped, for a job? About as realistic as aliens landing in the middle of Sheffield. Just stop, for pity's sake!

Amazing

Love your books, this one was just as great as the rest in the series, but a cliffhanger, please write the next one soon.

Good but not his best

I always find Michael Wood's stories enjoyable, & like hearing all the Sheffield references. The way every killer is out to get Matilda, or someone she's close to, or that the case results in one of them inadvertantly being killed or related to the killer, is getting a bit ridiculous now though. I find I'm enjoying the author's other novels more than this series now as this has become way too far-fetched.
