About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Nalini Singh returns to a world devastated by change in her award-winning Psy-Changeling Trinity series, where two people defined by their aloneness hold the fate of the Psy in their hands....

Termed merciless by some, and a robotic sociopath by others, Payal Rao is the perfect Psy: cardinal telekinetic, CEO of a major conglomerate, beautiful - and emotionless.

For Canto Mercant, family and loyalty are everything. A cardinal telepath deemed 'imperfect' by his race due to a spinal injury, Canto cares for the opinions of very few - and ruthlessly protects those he claims as his own. Head of intel of the influential Mercant family, he prefers to remain a shadow in the Net, unknown and unseen. But Canto is also an Anchor, part of a secretive designation whose task it is to stabilise the PsyNet. Now that critical psychic network is dying, threatening to collapse and kill the entire Psy race with it.

To save those he loves, Canto needs the help of a woman bound to him by a dark past neither has been able to forget. A woman who is the most powerful Anchor of them all: Payal Rao. Neither is ready for the violent inferno about to ignite in the PsyNet...or the passionate madness that threatens to destroy them both.

Excellent

This story was excellent in so many ways. The decision is made to split the net up in pieces, the anchors come to the rescue. They find an answer to the problem that is ripping the net apart. Of course there is the love story that follows through the book. Then the cliffhanger ready for the next book.

4.5 Stars

4.5 stars Now I'm not the biggest fan of Psy x Psy pairings, but between Heart Of Obsidian and this..you could sell me on it. Canto Mercant and Payal Rao have history, despite not linking it at first. But with Payal's perceived madness upon her and the net fracturing her and Canto's designation (the A or the anchors holding the net together) are forced to step into the light as the Psynet continues to rot. There's so much beauty in this despite the usual aloofness of the Psy. But with all the E's and bears around Canto cannot be cold. And with Canto, neither can Payal.

Absolutely loved this book

Couldn't put this book down. I enjoyed meeting up with familiar characters and liked how outwardly grumpy Conto was but the absolute best was his protectiveness.

Nalini did it again! Whoop whoop!

This is story of how two psy children who were thrust into a hell as children meet again as adults. They have both had different experiences since leaving a hellish environment constructed for psy children who were considered flawed. Loved this second meeting romance. Great characters and great storyline.

The Psy Net in Danger but there is Hope

Canto is a character we’ve met before and is a Mercant related to Silver.
He’s uses a wheelchair/hoverchair due to reasons revealed in this book from his childhood.
Unwanted, he is sent to a facility where he meets a young girl who saves him.
Years later, he searches for her, as well as Psy called ‘Anchors’ who are dying out, and the Net will die with it.
He finds Payal Rao, also an Anchor and powerful businesswoman who he wants to work with to save the Net.
This one was great, so much happens that of course I can’t reveal but I was so happy we got to hear more of the Russian bears and how Canto’s cousin Arwen is revelling in his romance with his bear Pavel.
There was plenty of romance, new and old characters, villainy, danger, trauma and fun.
The narrator did a great job at varying the voices and tones.

Fantastic

Loved this book. It’s made all the better by the appearance of the Stonewater bears who bring so much humour and love to the story.
I’m waiting with bated breath so see what happens next!
