Summary

Every couple has their secrets...

'The woman’s body lay on the bed, hair fanned out in a golden halo, blue eyes open. On the table stood an unmistakable sign: a bouquet of bright yellow roses...'

On a freezing January morning, a young couple is found dead in their cottage in the quiet Dublin suburbs. When detective Eli Quinn arrives at the scene his stomach drops. It’s the second double homicide in as many months where the killer has left a bunch of yellow roses.

Tucked between the thorns is a little card, with an image of a broken heart. There’s no doubt the killer is trying to send a message, but what do the flowers mean? And can Eli figure out the killer’s motive before another murder occurs?

Utterly gripping, fast-paced and nail-bitingly tense, this serial killer thriller will keep you up listening all night. If you love Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott and Patricia Gibney, you won’t be able to put this audiobook down.

Excellent

So interesting and entertaining. Likeable characters who are well drawn. Lots of scope for a promising series. It’s sad and emotional but also funny and intelligent.

Caroline Lennon, excellent as ever. I hope they don’t change narrator for future books.

Gruesome but good

I don’t generally like too much graphic violence and I doubt that the serial killer would have managed to remain undetected for so long, this story was well written with interesting complications. Quinn and Malloy are interesting characters and I look forward to more. However the narration went a long way to making this an excellent listen. Caroline Lennon is superb.

Good story and flawless narration

This is a new author for me. I really enjoyed this. Well drawn characters and a good tale. Caroline Lennon’s narration is always faultless.

Stumbled over this one and was blown away 🤩

Not my usual genre but I must admit, I'm hooked. Wonderfully real characters, with quirks and foibles, without some darling narcissistic do gooder in the leading role (ohh hurrah). Other characters were wonderfully portrayed and wove in and out of the story. Arlene Hunt knows her technical stuff, and the narration is the best yet.
Science, humour and the complexity of being human in a damaged world.
5 ⭐ listen.
