 Es ist drei Tage vor Weihnachten. Knuddel hat Hunger und ist wieder der allerärmste Hund der Welt. Er bekommt nur eine gelbe Rübe. Die mag er nicht. Er rennt in den Garten. Dort nimmt ein Hase ihm die gelbe Rübe ab. Währenddessen besucht der Weihnachtsmann Frau Holle und erzählt ihr von den traurigen Kindern in Zirngiblhausen.
