The sequel to Instinct, a Sunday Times bestseller

Dr Dylan Reinhart is no stranger to solving crimes.

When an Ivy League professor is murdered, Reinhart reunites with his old partner Detective Elizabeth Needham. With his unrivalled mind for criminal psychology and Needham's investigative experience, Reinhart is confident that together they can find the killer, and close the case.

But a terrifying attack on New York sends the city into chaos. In the aftermath, a name from Reinhart's past emerges on the list of victims – a name he thought he'd left behind.

As long-buried secrets threaten to derail everything he's worked for, can he keep his life together long enough to outsmart the killer?

Or has Reinhart finally met his match?

Excellent

2nd book in the series and didn’t disappoint. Couldn’t stop listening - kept me on the edge of my seat and I wasn’t going to stop until I knew how it ended. Well written with just enough twists and read very well too. Looking forward to the next one.

Amazing

Well written. Good story line. A must read. But listen to the first one first.

Patterson at his best

I like the main character in this book and the narrator’s comic timing is good.

Another great story from the master

Dillon is such an interesting character - an amalgamation of opposites. Fun with a serious intent

Decent follow up to Instinct

It was a decent sequel but I have to say I preferred the first book, I found Reinhardt's character more relatable when we were led to believe he was just a college professor. This time round it felt more like a typical CIA agent thriller with a terrorism based plot that didn't grip me as much as The Dealer did. If you enjoyed the first one then you'll probably get a kick from this too.

Turned out enjoyable.

I was on the fence about liking this audiobook but I actually ended up enjoying it. Unoriginal, predicable in many ways, this is still a compelling tale, that kept me engaged throughout.
The narration was not too bad, the characters voices were recognisable but it could have done with a little more intensity.

A promising start but lost momentum

The narrator's whiny and insipid voice was grating on me from the start. I persevered because the opening storyline had got my attention. The voice got a bit better and the storyline got weaker. I wasn't invested in any of the characters and it felt as if the book had been created by thinking of a series of one off exciting events and then finding a way to shoehorn them all together.
