Summary

A ketogenic diet isn't something new that has been recently formulated; people have been on a ketogenic diet for virtually three million years in which our brains were nurtured and evolved. Now the human brain is not only shrinking, but brain atrophy is the norm as we age and get plagued with diseases such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.

People mistakenly think that they need to eat less and exercise more to create a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. This is not how diet and exercise helps with weight loss. A well-formulated keto-adapted diet along with proper exercise builds muscle and muscle builds mitochondria. It is in the mitochondria where fat is oxidized so you can keep your cells and liver insulin sensitized. Weight loss and health is about healthy mitochondria and about controlling hormones and specifically insulin.

This is not a diet, it is a lifestyle. By eating this way, you will begin to heal your cells and will keep evolving your body into the happy and healthy person you want to be. This book is filled with the most impeccable nutrition information to fuel your cells. Maria's passion goes beyond explaining the "why", she is a master in the kitchen and loves food. Her keto-adapted recipes at the end of the book tie all the nutrition together so you can become Keto-Adapted faster than ever.

Very interesting

I have changed my entire diet as a result of reading this book. Still getting used to feeling so full all the time. I like having 3 meals a day, but this way of eating sort of stops that as you are never hungry.
A lot of testimonials from other pacientes.
Plus she doesn't give an actual list of what you can eat which is a shame. However you can easily find out on google.

Best Diet & Health Book I Have Ever Read

I must have read 30-40 diet book in my life. Not because I'm over weight but because I have been searching for the perfect way to eat for 20 plus years. I've tried most of the diets I've read about and finally I feel like I have found the way we are supposed to eat for optimum health.

Maria's book stands out amongst all the other in how clearly she outlines what we need to eat and what we need to avoid and more importantly why. She keeps it mostly simple but also gets into technical details so everyone should find the level they want.

This is a book I will buy a hard copy of so I can refer to it over and over. Her recipe books look amazing so glad I gave this a go I will be recommending it to anyone interested in the way I now eat.

I love how she talks more about how it helps people with different conditions rather that weight loss, which seems to be a side effect of this most natural and healthy way of eating.

There are some stories and testimonials about people recovering from some really serious conditions, many of them quite surprising.

This might just be one of those book's that change your life forever.

Not Really Suitable as an Audiobook

I recommend choosing the actual book over the audiobook if you're interested in this title. I gave up part way into chapter 5 because it doesn't work as an audio: There are too many lists (supplements, tests etc) that the narrator must read out that it begins to make little sense; obviously the reader is better being able to see these written down for themselves so they can easily refer to them when necessary. I've returned this title to Audible and will buy a hard copy of the book instead.
