Summary

Kassius Kanex loves his home and family but hates his job and wants to quit. A chance meeting with strange men looking for directions inspires a change in Kass. He is led down a new path that not only rescues him from his perceived career imprisonment, but also leads to the fulfillment of his destiny.

When his family becomes endangered by his new life, Kass’ full identity is revealed. His truth previously existed dormant inside of him, but Kass is now awakened. Following a visit to three doors of mystery, his true essence is discovered and a choice is made.

Danger and suspense build as more truths come to light, and Kass wonders if things will turn out better or worse. He still hides one secret, though, and its admission will change everything.

The power of our brains !

This book can make people who have not read what it’s about ( usually on the back of the writing book ) to stop after a couple of chapters.
Only after reading that the main character will discover that all he knew about himself and life itself is nothing to do with his destiny made me listen to many hours of boring normal life which pretty much most humans go through.
Finally I got to the science fiction part and now it’s getting interesting !
Amazing how the author MK Schultz could write almost a whole book with such reality leading to the real interesting stuff which will continue as the series continues.

Skyler Morgan beautifully narrated perfectly each of the characters !

With patience
Recommended for all !!!

It's not you, it's me..

It was a good enough story, it just didn't draw me in. I might give another listen perhaps. Above all else, I probably enjoyed the narration the most.

Annoying

**Some spoilers**

Two thirds in I didn't hate it as such, just found it annoying to read and wanted the author to get to the point of the book. Then I got to the last third, the reveal, and was so annoyed I gave up reading it altogether, even though I will always try to read books to the end regardless of how bad it is.

The problem with this story for me is that it could have worked but the way it is written, and the language used, it's just very unrealistic and very tame for the serious subject matter where people are killed and others are put in their place . Meaning for ex, the family are stalked by strangers, The Engineers. They see them regularly, talk to them in passing, they even seem to be harassing his daughter. Kassius is so concerned strangers are stalking his family that he goes to lengths to protect them by buying a gun & taking shooting lessons. Things progress then Kassius is told to make an excuse (to his family) to invite the Engineers to work inside his home 'for a month' and partly while they are on holiday. Thus giving the stalkers full access to their home, and his family just accept it! No one mentions that they recognise the scary strangers that had just been stalking them. Tame because Kassius is told to handle certain circumstances in an authoritative/don't mess with me attitude, but it just comes across as a bit sad & laughable with weird revenge tactics, while the author acts like Kassius is the most amazing 'superhero' character ever. Then there's the issue of all the characters (apart from his family) calling him by his full name Kassius Kanex all the time. By the last third of the book it happens so regularly, every other sentence will have characters saying it. It's so annoying to constantly hear. I assume this is done because Kassius is made out to be a God like character but he didn't seem in any way outstanding to me, just an average Joe. Also when you finally hear the objective of The Organisation it's rather ambiguous, a bit of this and a bit of that, making the story even more wishy washy.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this book. Despite the annoyance factor there just wasn't enough of a believable story to hold it all together.

I was given this book for free of my own choosing and voluntarily left this review.
