About this listen
As a young girl, Jacqueline loved to write poetry. Her dreams were dashed when her fourth-grade teacher told her that although she recognized Jacqueline's potential and gift, she would not be able to use it to support herself. So, the author chose another profession. The creation of this book allowed that fourth grader to fulfill her dream of writing beautiful, heartfelt, and realistic poetry. This author shares her poetic observances on timely topics such as coronavirus, Blackness, caregivers, crime, pants, dementia, hatred, and many others.
Just Sister Jackie: My First Collection of Poetic Observances is a celebration of the human spirit within that vulnerable child who refused to give up and forget about fulfilling an unrealized dream. Most of us can recount experiences in our younger years when negative words deterred us from following paths that might have led us to greener pastures. The penning of this book gives that discouraged fourth grader a sense of triumph in that she was able to push aside trepidation and fear and pick up perseverance and determination and climb her personal stairs to success. The indomitable spirit within that fourth grader is pleased to leave you with Just Sister Jackie: My First Collection of Poetic Observances.
