Summary

Joel Rifkin trolled the streets on Manhattan and Long Island under the cover of night searching for a way to ease the intense urges he couldn’t deny. Prostitutes were his targets, and although he allowed some to live, there were many who were much less fortunate.

Dismembered bodies were soon discovered, but nobody could identify who was responsible for such despicable acts of murder and horror. Until one night when Rifkin was disposing of his 17th victim, he was finally caught.

One of the most famous serial killers, Rifkin has shared some of his thoughts and feelings about the crimes he committed, yet he still questions why he felt the way he did. He is perhaps one of the most interesting American serial killers to date, and his true crime stories are among the most disturbing.

There have been few New York murders committed by serial killers, including Rifkin and the Long Island Serial Killer. Rifkin was considered a suspect in the case of the Long Island Serial Killer, and this true crime audio discusses his opinions on who the killer could actually be.

If you are passionate about true crime serial killers, then you will absolutely enjoy this audiobook. Of all the serial killer audiobooks out there, this one delves into the controversy surrounding the death penalty and discusses whether monsters like Rifkin should be executed or allowed to live their days out in prison when they stripped that opportunity from the innocent victims they slayed.

Not sure

It wasnt quite what I was expecting but think that is probably my fault for not reading the synopsis properly.

I was expecting to listen to Joel Rifkin's story, but very little of this book is actually about his story, and is more about serial killers.

I will go back and give this book another listen now that I know what to expect, but do feel that the title is misleading

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review

Seems padded to make up for lack of information

The first half of the book is about Joel Rifkin, but then there are numerous chapters where facts about other serial killers are covered. This felt like padding, and I got to the end of the book not really feeling I got to know Rifkin's story.

I did not enjoy the narration, it was very "one note" and without nuance.

Joel Rifkin??

I like what I've heard so far by Jack Rosewood accept from this one, to be honest I don't understand why the book is called Joel Rifkin, he speaks more about other killers, and doesn't mention much interesting about them either, he'll speak about a killer for about 20 seconds then move on to the next, and goes through a very long list of them, and every now and then he gets back to speaking about Rifkin but not for very long, very disappointing, not reccomended

What a photograph!!!

The authors of this book are amazing, it was written so good that I could picture everything in my mind, they really managed to write pictures in words, truly amazing.

I believe the picture is clear: while a child mine is developing and Re wiring itself is when the decision who he will be gets created, at that period intervention could save many souls, once the process is over and the mind no longer grows there is no way to undo the mess!
The problem is how to reach those minds in time?
Beautifully written !
Excellent narration !
