About this listen

If the women who followed Jesus could tell you what he was like, what would they say?

Jesus' treatment of women was revolutionary. That's why they flocked to him. Wherever he went, they sought him out. Women sat at his feet and tugged at his robes. They came to him for healing, for forgiveness, and for answers. So what did women see in this first-century Jewish rabbi, and what can we learn as we look through their eyes today?

In Jesus through the Eyes of Women, Rebecca McLaughlin explores the life-changing accounts of women who met the Lord. By entering the stories of the named and unnamed women in the Gospels, this book gives listeners a unique lens to see Jesus as these women did and marvel at how he loved them in return.

A truly beautiful book

This is a truly beautiful work and which is excellently narrated with feeling and freshness. I am a Christian who, was baptised into the Church of England yet who can find no Church to spiritually welcome me. I can find little comfort in any of them. Why is that? Well, this wonderful book demonstrates that it is because none of the Churches truly represent the world of Christ and his followers. In fact, “my” Church is the Church described in this book. I am a man, yet I have never found the overt masculinity which comprises so much of the Churches appealing and this book helps to balance that distorted view of Christianity and what does it reveal? Why, it reveals a religion of sublime beauty led by a Saviour also of sublime beauty and which welcomes and values all equally. As you can see, I recommend this book very highly. I cannot recall a book on Christianity which has uplifted as much and brought me as much joy as this one has. Thank you Rebecca.

Informative read

Women were important to Jesus, it's reassuring to know. The modern day women can feel confident we are equal in his eyes.

Insightful

Well researched and written. Rebecca clearly explores the significance of Jesus’ interactions with women in the historical context and how those interactions with women displayed the value that they have in the eyes of God.

Interesting insight from well researched author

Rebecca McLaughlin is excellent in telling the story of Christianity with useful references to other authors, scientists and her experience of living through the faith. This book is no exception with some fantastic insight to the early church and the importance of women. The message on how counter cultural and revolutionary this movement has been is really helpful

The narration is really clear. Look forward to her next book!

Loved this book

I greatly enjoyed Rebecca’s knowledge and explanations around the gospel story’s focused on in this book. She makes you feel like you too are a present witness, understanding cultural meaning and hidden emphasis that are generally missed by modern readers of the gospel. Love that it is read by the author too.
