About this listen
1942: Saba Tarcan is a talented young singer with big dreams. So when an opportunity arises to entertain the troops in the Middle East, she jumps at the chance, cutting short a burgeoning love affair with a young RAF pilot, Dom. It soon becomes clear that entertaining won’t be Saba’s only mission. It's a move that will jeopardize not only her own safety, but also the love of her life.

Fabulous tale , brilliantly described. A joy.
New author to me . Another side to war keeping up moral . Fantastic location descriptions and twisting , engaging story with plausible characters. Buy with confidence.

a lovely story beautifully narrated
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Saba a lovely Welsh girl unaware of her own beauty and gifted with an extraordinary voice. The entertainment corps in wartime Egypt - an aspect of WWII I knew little about. Characters and places brought to life by an excellent narrator. Not just a wartime story - not just a love story but a tale of a woman really finding herself. I was drawn in and seduced by this book. A very satisfying read and I wanted to tell everyone how much I enjoyed it afterwards.

A lovely story very interesting too.
This is a lovely book. Visiting various countries and following the life of two people. I was totally immersed in the book and could not "put it down", (turn it off). A book that can be re-listened to again and again. As usual beautifully read by Julia Franklin. I have had a lot of books read by her and each one her voice is different to change the characters.

It was ok
This is first book I read by this author and dont know if I would go for another. The story was interesting in part and then became not so interesting and I continued to the end as I did not wish to give up. The subject matter really drew me in at the beginning and I thought it would make a really good story but it didnt seem to go anywhere really for me and while the ending was nice it was just that OK but not memorable and I looked forward to the end so I could move onto next book.
I really enjoyed the narration and would read another book by this reader and would recommend her.
Others have given it good reviews so maybe it was just me not enjoying it. Good luck with it if you decide to try it.

Lacking in every department
I can find nothing about this book to recommend it to other readers. Romance. 0; intrigue; 0
