About this listen

From the author of perennial favorite Bunyips Don't and the Sydney 2000 Olympic mascot books.

Endearing Jack Russell dog-detective: the detective with a nose for crime.

Intriguing, funny whodunit mystery.

Doggeroo has been running its famous Annual Dog Show for 150 years, and this year Jack's landlord, Sarge, is one of the stewards.

Someone is nobbling the entrants, muddying their coats just before their classes. Could it be the dogs themselves, striking a blow for the right to roll?

Jack thinks not - and is proved right when Lord Red is one of the victims. Jack soon sniffs out the true culprit...

Editor reviews

Alan King gives a cheery, spirited performance in this Australian dog detective’s latest adventure.

Written by Darrel Odgers and Sally Odgers, Jack Russell 2: The Phantom Mudder takes place in the town of Doggeroo’s long-running Annual Dog Show, where Jack’s "landlord" (i.e. owner), Sarge, is acting as a steward. Jack must find out the identity of the saboteur who is muddying the coats of the entries.

King’s performance is full of big, comic portrayals of this whodunit’s various characters, all delivered in a thick Australian accent.
