Not intended for me

I received this title for free in exchange for an honest review.

I am definitely not the demographic for this and neither do I have any members of my family who are, so this review is based quite frankly on what a prosaic adult, who’s not a Harry Potter fan, but can and did enjoy the Hunger Games series, got out of it.

I think that this tale is trying to be too mystical, without actually being too engaging and therefore not credible. But, what child wants credibility? They want magic and adventure and this story has it! In my opinion, it doesn’t cross over to be thoroughly engaging as some YA titles, but I don’t think that it aspires to that. For its targeted audience, I’m sure that it’s a fun adventure.

My thoughts on the narrator are mixed. I don’t think that he nailed all of the characters well, but I’m not sure how easy it is for a grown man to portray a handful of children…
