Imagine a world where...
· Your phone is too big for your hand
· Your doctor prescribes a drug that is wrong for your body
· In a car accident you are 47% more likely to be injured.

If any of that sounds familiar, chances are you're a woman.

From government policy and medical research, to technology, workplaces, and the media. Invisible Women reveals how in a world built for and by men we are systematically ignoring half of the population, often with disastrous consequences. Caroline Criado Perez brings together for the first time an impressive range of case studies, stories and new research from across the world that illustrate the hidden ways in which women are forgotten, and the profound impact this has on us all.

Discover the shocking gender bias that affects our everyday lives.

Critic reviews

Revelatory – it should be required reading for policy and decision makers everywhere (Nicola Sturgeon)
HELL YES. This is one of those books that has the potential to change things – a monumental piece of research (Caitlin Moran)
Revelatory, frightening, hopeful. A secular Bible (Jeanette Winterson)
This book is a devastating indictment of institutionalised complacency and a rallying cry to fight backInvisible Women should propel women into action. It should also be compulsory reading for men (Christina Patterson)
Invisible Women takes on the neglected topic of what we don't know - and why. The result is a powerful, important and eye-opening analysis of the gender politics of knowledge and ignorance. With examples from technology to natural disasters, this is an original and timely reminder of why we need women in the leadership of the institutions that shape every aspect of our lives. (Cordelia Fine)

Must read, eye-opening book

Loved this from start to finish. Opened my eyes to a world I was previously oblivious of. Would encourage everyone to read this but particularly important for anyone working in design. Staggering to learn the amount of products, services and systems that have been designed with men in mind as the default.

Every human should read this book

Data driven while being entirely readable, this book puts numbers behind a lot of phenomena that I’m sure a lot of women already suspected and reveals even more surprising facts that, as a woman, I never would have guessed.

The gender data gap exposed

II was shocked by the evidence contained in this book, showing a cavalier attitude to gathering the statistics needed to plan our complex living environment. Safety equipment, protective clothing, cupboard heights, bus routes, refugee housing, unpaid caring responsibilities, ... Caroline, much as she did in radio and TV interviews, bravely challenges the assumption that “one size fits all”

Enraging and Essential!

An absolutely enraging and necessary read. Extremely well researched, providing countless case studies and undeniable evidence that society has a lot of work to do if want equality. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn more about gender equality in today's society, and it's a must read for anyone who would argue against feminism!

Powerful

If like me you’ve felt it (left out) but could never put your finger on it ... if like me you value evidence based data.... then this book is for you !

It might make you angry, it might make you sad, but it will make you better informed and potentially ready to be part of the change.

Fantastic

This book is so important to listen to or read. Caroline Perez eloquently describes so many points about the gender data gap that I hadn’t heard being spoken about out loud, backing up every example with statistics.
I would highly recommend this book.

Couldn’t put it down

Really interesting synthesis of a ton of research and identifying where there is none, of course! Great content but would recommend listening when you have a hand free to rewind- with so many stats flying at you, it’s easy to keep up with the gist of a chapter but really helpful to be able to rewind for the finer points.

Brilliant. Superb.

this is both information about and a campaign against the feminine gender gap in the way our world operates. every policy maker, leader and designer needs to read this and every woman who wants to make her way in the world, and every woman who has tried and failed to do so. we need to understand what is wrong to put it right. it will make you angry but should inspire us to do something concrete for change whilst understanding the challenges we face. Thankyou Caroline Criado Perez
