元来、お稲荷さんは農耕の神でしたが、現在では五穀豊穣だけでなく家内安全、学業成就など、あらゆる願い事を聞き入れてくれる神様として信仰されています。
日本にはお稲荷さんを祀る神社が約3万あり、その総本宮が京都の伏見稲荷大社です。
この神社は、生命の色とも魔除けの色ともいわれる朱色（赤色）の鳥居が、境内を隙間なく埋め尽くしていることで知られます。
伏見稲荷大社は、トリップアドバイザーの人気ランキングで、３年連続日本一になるほどの人気です。
