About this listen

When her parents died in a tragic accident and her life in Australia fell apart, Carlie was sent across the ocean to live with a stranger. After a harrowing journey through the mists, she finally found peace with her grandmother, magic with her new friend, and first love with her druidic soul mate. But then she was plunged back into the darkness. Now, haunted by loss and betrayal, and worried that her shattered heart is beyond repair, she must decide whether she has it in her to find her way back into the light.

In the stunning conclusion to the Into the Mists Trilogy, the wheel of the year turns from the bleakness of midwinter to the new hope of spring. Can Carlie break a decades-long curse and save the person she's closest to? Will she unlock the mystery of the sad woman she meets late one night? Which of the shadowy Otherworldly beings can she trust? Who is the man with the raven tattoo? And how far is she willing to go to forgive and be forgiven?

For a chance at happiness, she must challenge the wise priestess and embrace her darkest fears. But is she already fated to echo the lonely life of her grandmother, or can she find the courage to open her heart again?

Emotional and satisfying conclusion to the series

‘The wheel of the year turning, the wheel of life turning. Sadness and joy. Love and grief. Hope and despair. The many shades of a life..’

It’s been a week since Rowan’s untimely death and Carlie is struggling to cope with the loss of her soul mate. Following several encounters with Aideen, the woman in red however, Carlie comes to re-evaluate her life and realises that if she continues to close herself off from others for fear of losing them, she risks living a lonely life as her grandmother, Rose has done. When Rose and Carlie are given a second chance at love, will they be receptive?

Meanwhile, an encounter with a sad lady in a cafe leaves Carlie confused. The lady, who claims to be a friend of Rhiannon’s, urges Carlie to search within herself for the answers that will end the curse that Mike suspects blights the women in his life. Will Carlie succeed?

Into the Light is the final instalment of the Into the Mists series and what a journey this has been. Throughout the series it’s been apparent that the author has a true understanding of grief and all its stages. Carlie’s journey from heartbreak and loss to trust and healing as she rose above her pain was a revelation.

The character development has been exceptional, each character showing real depth and substance. Carlie not only deals with her own grief, but helps several others to do the same. Rose in particular, seems to have blamed herself for her daughter leaving twenty years ago, along with her husband’s death. Carlie is able to persuade her to see otherwise. I confess that I welled up on many occasions in this book as each character was given closure. Carlie’s last conversation Rowan’s mother was a particularly poignant moment.

All in all, I was happy with the way the author tied up all the loose ends. At the end of any series, its always sad to say goodbye to characters that one has become invested in. I’ll certainly be looking out for future works from this author.

I received an advanced free audible copy of Into the Light which was narrated by Gabrielle Baker. I was impressed by the way she was masterfully able to bring each character to life with their own unique voice, switching effortlessly between characters and accents.

A story of survival

This story is not an action pack story. More like a story of survival. One of grief and lost. Spiritual belief, friendship and love. New relationships. There is death, and domestic violence. There is no course language. I found the story helped me as I wanted to know what happened.
Narrated by: Gabrielle Baker the story draws you into it.
Gabrielle brings the characters to live, with how she portrays them.
To say I enjoyed is story doesn’t sound quite right. But I did.
I was given this book for a honest review.
