About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Into the Fire written and read by Edric Kennedy-Macfoy.

The incredible true story of life as a London firefighter.

What is it really like to be a firefighter? How does it feel to respond to an emergency call, to know that someone's life hangs in the balance and every second is critical?

Into the Fire offers an unforgettable insight into the highs and lows of life in the fire service. Chronicling his thirteen-year career in the London Fire Brigade, Edric Kennedy-Macfoy takes us with him from his training days as a new recruit to his very first fire; from call-outs to cannabis farms, chemical spills and trapped swans to the devastating scenes of road traffic collisions, the Croydon tram derailment and the Grenfell Tower fire.

Heart-breaking, deeply personal and at times hilarious, this is his remarkable story.

His voice as a young British black male living in UK for what it really is😊

There's actually nothing to criticise, about this book usually my mind is so preoccupied I don't have the attention span to relate or concentrate when reading books of listening to devises I get a lot of headaches but this was one of best and the catastrophes of the tower was intensely thrilling and devastating and knowledgeable for future recommendations and public services technology resources. His voice as a British young male really stood out. This audio had so much emotion too it and key personal experiences towards the element of his development in his career and personal growth made this so much more relatable

Only wish I could rate it higher than 5*

This blew me away, sensitively written where needed, Honest and informative where you want it and so gripping throughout. Couldn't encourage reading this book more. Edric's performance as narrator is also brilliant and emotional ❤️

Very insightful and deeply interesting

It only took me 3 days to listen to Eric's audiobook. I was really absorbed and was looking forward to pressing play everytime I knew I would have an opportunity to do so. Eric's story is very insightful and interesting. I felt very impacted by his words and it opens up my eyes onto what my own father must have gone through himself throughout his life long career as a firefighter. We never really talked about it. Now I can't wait to sit down with him and have a conversation about it. Thank you.

Great insight into a heros job and a brave man.

Great book on the struggle and strength of a firefighter working in conditions you couldn't imagine.
I think this book will help a lot of people even who are not firefighters but going through trauma in some way, its not often a man opens up about Mental health so I feel this book has a powerful message to men and women suffering alone.
Its ok not to be ok, so just talk to someone even if its a stranger.

Loved to hear another firefighter's perspective of incidents and their stories. An ideal book for any young man or woman looking to join the job.
