About this listen

Could a chance encounter between strangers lead to a lifetime of love?

Kat Maddox has had her fair share of terrible relationships. And after discovering that her latest boyfriend has been hiding an entire other life from her, it's time for a fresh start.

Accepting a job on the Cornish coast, Kat begins a new chapter in Fowey. She is immediately drawn to the beautiful Cornish landscapes and swiftly an old feeling begins to emerge. Ever since she was young, Kat's had a 'gift' - when her paintbrush touches canvas, she's able to see the history of her subject as if by magic.

Consumed with trying to discover what this could mean, she crosses paths with local sailor, Mac. Though this isn't the first, or the last time, they're destined to meet. As Mac and Kat grow closer, she begins to wonder whether she should open her heart to love one more time...

A beautifully enchanting romance that will captivate your hearts and have you believing in fate. Perfect for fans of Susanna Kearsley, Nicola Cornick and Christina Courtenay.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Loved this from start to finish partly because I’m Cornish and recognise the area. I liked hearing about the special gift Cat has and building up the story book picture in my mind.

Wonderful

Lovely romantic tale with a bit of the surreal attached. Loved the characters and, as usual with Kate Ryder, I’m learning all sorts of interesting facts about all sorts of things, mainly places and history. I was initially disappointed at the end that there wasn’t an epilogue, but then realised that Kat had already told us much of the future!

Started to lose interest.

This is the first book I've listened to by this author and am unsure whether I will risk listening to another. Lots of incredible detail and historical facts about Cornwall which is commendable and all well and good if you want a Cornish guide book or you live there and want to relate to the places, but this seemed to detract from the actual storyline for me. I got a bit bored in places and felt that there was a lot of unnecessary padding and a lack of plot. The conclusion could have been reached so much quicker. Not the best read sadly.
