Summary

"Never underestimate the power of a good story."

Good advice…especially when a story can kill you.

For most people, the story of their lives is just that: the accumulation of time, encounters, and actions into a cohesive whole. But for an unfortunate few, that day-to-day existence is affected - perhaps infected is a better word - by memetic incursion: where fairy tale narratives become reality, often with disastrous results.

That's where the ATI Management Bureau steps in, an organization tasked with protecting the world from fairy tales, even while most of their agents are struggling to keep their own fantastic archetypes from taking over their lives. When you're dealing with storybook narratives in the real world, it doesn't matter if you're Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or the Wicked Queen: no one gets a happily ever after.

Indexing is New York Times best-selling author Seanan McGuire’s new urban fantasy where everything you thought you knew about fairy tales gets turned on its head.

Why is this book so cheap? Its cool and original!

I am a big fan of Seanan McGuire's work and if you have not read any of their stuff and you enjoyed this, then I would highly recommend that you do.
This is definitely a start to another cool series Seanan captures again with wonderful detail a world within a world, a complex balance of great characters both good and bad, a rich and multifaceted female protagonist is again used to bring the whole thing together, read splendidly by Ms. Kowal
This is a dark yet very enjoyable take on the whole world of make believe, from fairy tales to urban legends and more. This book is so cheap I assumed that it would be poor................I assumed wrong!!

Not as amazing as the author's other works

...but still worth listening to.
I LOVE Seanan McGuire's works, the woman is both insane & incredible, & this story definitely feels insane....but it just didn't feel as fully formed as her other books....

What did you like most about Indexing?

An interesting and engaging concept that pulls you in and makes you want more. The characters and likable and are relatable too I was sorry when the book ended and I realised I would have to wait till next year to listen to the next instalment of this new series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sloane Winters is probably my favourite character but I can’t say too much or I would give some of the plot away. She is a strong and interesting character who is very deep and has had a lot of thought put into her, she also has the best one liners in the book.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The ATI Management Bureau saving you from happley ever after

Any additional comments?

Anyone who has listened to the October Daye novels will know how good Mary Robinette Kowal is at injecting life into the characters. She narrates and once again she does not disappoint each character truly does come alive with her voice acting. If you have not listened to the October Daye books you should the world Seanan McGuire creates are amazing and beautiful but also full of thrill and suspense and all are well worth a credit .
