About this listen
A medical mistake during an IVF procedure. An unthinkable situation....you're pregnant with the wrong baby. You can terminate, but you can't keep him. What choice would you make?
Carolyn and Sean Savage had been trying to expand their family for years. When they underwent an IVF transfer in February 2009, they knew it would be their last chance. If they became pregnant, they would celebratethe baby as an answer to their prayers. If not, they would be grateful for the family they hadand leave their fertility struggles behind forever.
They never imagined a third option. The pregnancy test was positive, but the clinic had transferred the wrong embryos. Carolyn was pregnant with someone else's baby.
The Savages faced a series of heartbreaking decisions: terminate the pregnancy, sue for custody, or hand over the infant to his genetic parents upon delivery. Knowing that Carolyn was carrying another couple's hope for a baby, the Savages wanted to do what they prayed the other family would do for them if the situation was reversed. Sean and Carolyn Savage decided to give the ultimate gift, the gift of life, to a family they didn't know, no strings attached.
Inconceivable provides an inside look at how modern medicine, which creates miracles daily ,could allow such a tragic mistake, and the many legal ramifications that ensued with both the genetic family and the clinic. Chronicling their tumultuous pregnancy and its aftermath, which tested the Savage's faith, their relationship to their church, and their marriage, Inconceivable isultimately a testament to love. Carolyn and Sean loved this baby, making it impossible for them to imagine how they could give him life and then give him away.
In the end, Inconceivable is a story of what itis to be a parent, someone who nurtures a life, protects a soul, only to release that child into theworld long before you're ready to let him go.

Quarter way through the book: too much negativity
I’ve really tried to split the book into a smaller session, so I can get to know how difficult their lives have become since they know the truth. Nevertheless, the negativity goes on for half way through Part 1, and it doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon.
I’m finding books to be inspiring to provide me fresh perspectives in little things, but this book isn’t one of them. Maybe I came in expecting the book to be something slightly different.

What a strong couple
I cried bitter tears listening to certain parts. Having been a gestational surrogate here in the UK it’s a very different experience but I could see how being thrust into that position without prior counselling and against your will must be harrowing and still they chose to give that baby life and not terminate. The one thing that is so evident in this book is the strong and solid foundation Sean and Carolyn’s marriage is built on. You can hear the pain in their words and I think the strength it took them to go through the pregnancy not many of us possess.

Logan is a very luck boy to be loved by so may people. I hope him and his parents are okay.
Carolyn and Sean I have no idea how you managed to give up this baby. I know it was the right thing to go. But that does t make it right.

Emotional and Moving story of courage and love
A fantastic heart rending story of courage and love. Rarely does a story move me to tears. Well worth listening to. I found myself 100 % behind this couple from start to finish. A lasting message that something like this should never happen again. I wish them all peace

Heart rending true story
What an incredibly emotional story of selfless love. I wonder if Logan has had any more contact with Carolyn and Sean? Shannon and Paul came across as a bit ungrateful in the story though it must have been incredibly hard for Shannon not being able to carry Logan herself so she was cheated of that. But I felt there wasn't enough gratitude and humility from either of his true parents for the gift of his life, especially after Carolyn nearly died after giving birth to him.

Couldn’t put it down
Such an engaging story. It’s not too “Christian” either which I thought might be an issue. Googling after the end of the book revealed even more info!

Overly negative
I almost never leave reviews but after reading the first 10 chapters of this book I’m going to have to call it quits. I think the story could have been really interesting but I couldn’t get through how negatively both Carolyn and Sean talked about Carolyn. She came across as an overly dramatic woman who needed saving, and Sean, the hard working smart rescuer. Given she is highly educated and empathetic I’m quite sure she doesn’t need rescuing by any human man.
