About this listen
Darkest England and the Way Out is the classic work of Salvation Army founder William Booth. He and his wife Catherine went from a modest ministry in London to a global movement of Christian soldiers marching down the streets of cities and towns everywhere. They were persecuted, imprisoned, beaten, and even martyred for the cause of Christ.
This audiobook is William Booth's explanation of the state of England as he ministered to it, as well as his plans and vision for pulling the nation out of that darkness.
In this revised edition, minister and missionary Alan Crookham has updated some of the language to make it more understandable in this modern time. He has also written an extensive foreword explaining the rise of the Salvation Army and their struggle against the Skelton Army that persecuted them so ferociously in the 1800s.
Additionally, four select sermons have been compiled and added to the end of this audiobook. Two of the sermons are by William Booth, and two are by his wife, Catherine Booth.
