About this listen
Today's show looks at three outcomes of sex. Does having sex promote happiness? Is prostitution really forced on women? And what happens to a wife who is denied sex?
First off, Susie looks at how America has become the gosh-darn happy-face nation when confronted with personal illness. Susie reads from a Psychology Today by author Ariel Gore, who kept a journal to track what conditions made her happy. Susie wonders how sex figures into that equation.
Then, another acclaimed publication recently tackled sexual trafficking in the UK. Guardian newspaper reporter Nick Davies wrote two controversial articles claiming that the media and politicians are spreading the lie that trafficking is not happening. The prostitutes must actually like being in their oldest of professions; nothing forced here. Well, Susie has a lot to say about this!
Finally, in the "Try This at Home" mailbag, Susie gets a letter from a new mom who wishes her husband yearned for hot sex the way she does. "Please help!"
