Not a great follow up.

Book one was good. Humorous with an interesting premise and a power with potential. Rather than continue to focus on all the elements that made book one what it was, we now have a mostly generic cultivation story for book two. All the setup that was done in book one to make the main character a supporting role has been binned, In book two, he takes centre stage in almost every battle and by the end of the book is standing up to powers far stronger than he should be able to. While I don't really have a problem with this, by the end of the book, the story is so generic that it had lost all its charm. Every fight just dragged on and on and on.

There is also a considerable amount of interlude chapters following other characters, which I disdain, heavily, because they are used to FURTHER drag out a scene. They offer zero to the story.
