Len Whiting is smitten from the minute she sees the stranger's amazing eyes. She agrees to help Caeran find the healer he's been seeking in rural New Mexico. What Len doesn't know is that neither Caeran nor the healer is human: they're immortal lven, and they're locked in an ancient struggle with the vampires who are their kin. Editor reviews

Lenore Whiting, geeky college student and librarian, falls for mysterious Caeran as soon as she meets his amazing eyes. When he asks her to help him find the healer he's been looking for in New Mexico, she doesn't hesitate to say yes. Len discovers that Caeran and the healer he seeks are not human but rather aelven, an immortal race that is locked in ancient combat with their kin, the vampires, one of which they must face in battle. Narrator Jill Ginsberg's characterization of Len is delightfully conceived: listeners will immediately picture a shy, intelligent girl whose wry voice betrays a touch of vulnerability.
