Summary

Here's Mickey Spillane and Mike Hammer in their roughest and readiest—a double-strength shot of sex, violence, and action that is vintage Spillane all the way. It's a tough-guy mystery to please even the most bloodthirsty of fans!

A historic piece

This represents a bygone style of writing, especially about women sex and violence. But well narrated.

They Dont Call Him Hammer Coz He's Subtle

Ok first things first this book is a product of it's time and it's genre, grim and tough and aggressively mescaline all the good guys is monsters and all the bad guys is worst monsters. Woman are called dames they faint at the sight of blood and they're all just waiting for a real man to show them what's what. If your already triggered by that sentence don't read this book it'll only upset you but if you understand / like the genre and want to see how it started or have a sense of hummer and just fancy a genuinely clever murder mystery you should give this a go (seriously the actual plot is really well constructed)
Also the performance is great Mike Dennis really throws himself into the part of Mike Hammer and all the other characters.

It's not for all but I'm a sucker for this stuff and I cant recommend it enough. More please Audible.

A paradox

Full of socio temporal realities that force you to question the entertainment value of your own fantasies or romanticism... The raw material of a genius is so obvious here but not certainly realised and in fairness not exactly corrected by Spillanes contemporaries.. So many succesful narrative choices but the credibility of the character at best doesn't suit this format and at worst warranted warning the reader as going through the motions might have been considered the lesser evil.
