About this listen
Her dating life’s a void, work barely pays the rent, and her hamster just wrecked her car.
Serena Young travels the world daily, teaching English online from her living room table. But when the laptop is off, her universe shrinks to her bare-bones apartment and a pair of pet rodents. Surely a better life exists somewhere on the other side of the webcam.
Then Alessandro, a scrumptious olive oil heir, signs up for online lessons, which soon extend into virtual walks under a southern Italian moon. Should Serena toss caution - and her life savings and possibly her job - to the wind and fly into his arms?
Not if a Prada-clad vineyard heiress, an annoying geek neighbor, and her oddball students around the world can help it, in this intercontinental romantic misadventure of extra virgin proportions.

Surprising twists but also dragged on whining
The first five chapters drone on and they're not even that funny about her students and how much she hates her life and how angsty and depressing it is and her student loan bills and how she doesn't get enough students to have enough money. And we meet some computer repair guy and she gets embarrassed in front of him,how she's socially awkward but a nerd and basically it's just an hour of this depressing narrative where nothing happens and her roommate is annoying.
The main character gets whiny and angsty every 2 chapter reducing escapism , there is some mild comedy and her totally crossing boundaries risking her job by contacting a student outside lessons to date him. There's some silly drama and accident resulting in her getting money to fly over to see her student.
Some very uncomfortable conversations while she's on holiday and her heartbreak .The repeated negative ruminations and her self hatred made it off-putting to listen to and her whining her life wasn't perfect.
Multiple sexual references, but closed door. Catholic references .
The twist at the end was great ,amusing and unexpected.
Her friend trauma dumping on her was unpleasant.
Glad this was free on Plus catalogue, not worth a 2nd listen, glad didn't waste a credit.l did get quite a good giggle and most of the ending was satisfying.
