Myth

I did enjoy the book but it does perpetuate a myth from hurricane Camille that residents threw a party at the Richelieu apartment building. This has been debunked several times. The residents believed their building would hold and took shelter in a suite on the third floor. Someone suggested a party but the group declined and the resident who wanted the party left for New Orleans. The Richelieu residents had a pot roast in the third floor suite and tried to wait out the storm as group. No one was partying.
