Biased review
I love Howard Jacobson so to listen to him is very enjoyable. And he’s got a nice voice so that’s a bonus really.
(By the way, his first book, Coming From Behind, is really exquisitely crafted in language, structure and tone; and I think it’s my favourite novel of any that I’ve ever read. That exquisiteness could be masked for some by the gnawing envy of the central character - but for me that recipe, beautifully phrased and cadenced resentment and bitterness, is absolutely ideal. He’s also written some other good books.)
