Summary
The stunning third book in the sexy, action-packed Crescent City series, following the global bestsellers House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath.
Bryce Quinlan never expected to see a world other than Midgard, but now that she has, all she wants is to get back. Everything she loves is in Midgard: her family, her friends, her mate. Stranded in a strange new world, she's going to need all her wits about her to get home again. And that's no easy feat when she has no idea who to trust.
Hunt Athalar has found himself in some deep holes in his life, but this one might be the deepest of all. After a few brief months with everything he ever wanted, he's in the Asteri's dungeons again, stripped of his freedom and without a clue as to Bryce's fate. He's desperate to help her, but until he can escape the Asteri's leash, his hands are quite literally tied.
In this sexy, breathtaking sequel to the #1 bestsellers House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath, Sarah J. Maas's Crescent City series reaches new heights as Bryce and Hunt's world is brought to the brink of collapse - with its future resting on their shoulders.

Amazing!
This. Book. Killed. Me.
I will start by saying that I was not expecting anything that happened to actually happen. I found this book much more fast-paced than the second one. Even if it is a huge book, it didn't feel like dragging this time and even if there were a couple of points where we could have gone through faster, in the end, it picked back up quickly.
There are a lot of things going on at the same time. We are learning a lot more about many beloved characters, but also new ones, and we are, for sure, getting more background info and world story than before. It was about time! I couldn't wait for another book to learn how things are connected or how a lot of the info we already knew are falling in place.
As of emotions, we are talking about SJM, so yes, I felt everything again. I was angry, socked, happy, sad, bittersweet, more sad, cried a lot, and then happy again.... it was a freaking roller coaster that has left me in ruins. When is the next one out again? 😭
As of Maas's writing, what can I say? Gorgeous as every time. I love the way she writes her stories, she describes the characters and the situations, how she unfolds the plotlines and the stories behind different parts and of course, all the little seeds she plants all over the place for us to connect the dots... I love it!
As usual, I am not spoilering anything, but com'on, that character there... yes, that one.... why?? 😭😭😭
The fact that this book doesn't leave us in a huge cliffhanger stresses me out so much more! 😅
P.S.: Elizabeth Evans nailed it once more as a narrator of the audiobook. She is the best ever, and I wish they recorded all the ACOTAR books again with her voice!

I want more!!
I binged listened to this book in one weekend! I loved it so much.
So many twists and turns and Jesiba Roga! Read the book to find out why I lost my mind about her.
So gutted its all over, Left me wanting to more.
Secretly hoping for further character cross overs in ACOTAR book 6.

A satisfying if predictable conclusion
Honestly the only annoying thing about this audiobook is that they changed the “this is audible” opening & closing voice and that’s just so rude!
Anyways as far as the book goes- lots of plot things happen to lots of characters and that’s about all I can say without spoilers 😂
Elizabeth Evans narration was great per usual. And I’m excited to go read the “bonus” chapters.

Had to finish (potential spoilers)
Certainly not the worst fantasy I’ve ever read, but compared to the masterpiece of Kingdom of Ash, this finale felt a bit forced in places. I still enjoyed it (mainly because of my deep and unending love of Ruhn), but some parts were a bit bland and there were so many out-right cringe worthy lines that were straight out of a 15 year old’s diary. Plot, as a whole, was enjoyable, but felt like SJM tried to make Bryce into an Aelin, and it just didn’t land with me. If anything, the slight disappointment here has just got me more ready for ACOTAR 6.
