Ryan & Charlie!

Ryan has a dream. Hiring Charlotte was not part of it, but to secure his financing, adding the person who beat him on a promotion is something he has to do. For Charlie (Charlotte), this is her dream job. The two are at odds over everything, but they realize it's not just a difference of opinion. Foreplay. Denying their feelings only can last for so long though. When Charlie finds out the truth though, and Ryan finds out why, will their love be enough? I love enemies to lovers, and Claire Marti pulls the best out of both of these characters. Charlie has to prove her worth, though at times her insecurity comes through. I love her drive and independence but could feel her pain as it drives her. Ryan is ambitious and a times stubborn. His heart is big though, and he knows what he wants using whatever it takes. The secondary characters are key, and some we love and some we love to hate giving us a good balance and a spice to the story. I loved the flow, the goals, the teamwork and the love in this story and I will definitely be looking for more by Marti!

Vanessa Edwin and Tim Paige bring this book to life. Both are amazing storytellers and find the perfect voices for their characters, expressing the emotions and aspirations melding their rivalry. I enjoyed their performance.

Cats = I’m sold!

What  an engaging and fun take on one of my favourite tropes!
I loved the story and the characters, and how they are built in such a way that you are left wanting to know more even though you feel you know them already!
I can’t wait to hear more from this series!
Brilliantly performed by both Tim Paige and Vanessa Edwin! Their voices worked not only brilliantly together, but as the characters they were playing. I strongly believe that the performance can make or break a book and this book took on so much more dimension thanks to such an alluring performance!

A California Suits Novel book 1

Ryan is one of the owners of a line of boutique hotels and isn’t happy being forced to bring on his nemesis Charlotte. Charlotte or Charlie as she likes to be called had a rivalry when they worked together in the past and Ryan is still smarting over it. Yet his financial backer is demanding he take on Charlie as his VP. He doesn’t believe in her qualities for the position yet can’t help but love her stunning looks and maybe she might have some good ideas they can try.

Charlie is a stunning go getter and isn’t afraid to get what she wants, and knows she can exceed doing her new dream job but can’t understand the off putting vibes from her boss Ryan. Why does he question her suggestions along the way? Why did he hire her is the question that plagues her.

This enemies to lovers story has two competitive intelligent characters who don’t realize they want the same things for the future of the group’s boutique hotels and each holds a secret close to their chests.

Enjoyed how they turn a cheek and give in to their mutual attraction to one another but when their secrets are revealed will that end this budding romance?

The secondary characters were definitely men that I want to hear their own stories, and since Claire Marti is new to me, I’m excited to hear where she takes us next.

The audiobook version was what made this such an enjoyable treat. Tim has just the right sound that I held in my head for Ryan. He can express a vulnerability and shows Ryan’s questioning emotions really well. And Vanessa really expressed Charlie’s go getter attitude and vive for life, as well as her emotions and doubts that occur in this story. And her accent for Charlie’s bff were perfection and I hope these two are in future audiobooks to come in this series.

Ryan and Charlie!

Ryan and his friends have partnered together to create a boutique hotel. When one of their investors back out he manages to secure new financing on the condition that he hires the only woman who has bested him professionally in the past as his new VP and he can’t tell her why.

Charlie was flattered that Ryan considered her for the position as it was exactly what she was looking for. The only problem is that he refuses to let her do his job and every decision she makes needs to be approved by him. What started out as sparks of antagonism change to sparks of a different time but once all the secrets have been revealed will it destroy their personal and professional relationship?

The interactions between them are fiery as Charlie challenges Ryan unlike anyone else and it was fun watching them realize that they make a much better team than adversaries. The narrator’s performance brought out the personalities of the characters and what they were going through.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧A Captivating Delight

I enjoyed this book immensely, it is my first written by Claire Marti but it definitely will not be my last. She is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the story swept me in right from the start, grabbed my attention and captivated it straight to the end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, I loved it featured two powerful characters, both are great at what they do in the hotel industry and were rivals when they first started out. Ryan Michaels and his business partners are building their own empire of luxury hotels, he secured a financial backer who threw in a stipulation, he had to hire Charlie Ray, the one who beat him out for a promotion early in his career and he could tell no one about the stipulation, not his partners or Charlie, herself. Charlie comes from money and an influential family, but she never wanted to use her name to get places, she wanted to work her way up on her own and being one of the best in the industry, she made a name for herself. To be offered the VP of Sales and Marketing for a luxury hotel is her dream job and puts her ahead of her goals, even if it means having to work with and for Ryan Michaels. The two bonk heads and disagree on just about everything, it makes her question his reason for hiring her. But he pipes down and sees that her ideas are worth considering and that the two could make a great team in more ways than one. The chemistry between these two is electric and they could only deny themselves for so long before giving in to it. They were wrong in thinking that one time could get it out of their system. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is a wonderfully plotted, fast-moving story with plenty of drama, heartfelt emotions, a touch of angst, humor and some steamy romance. There are some great secondary characters in this book, and I loved the camaraderie Ryan had with his partners. Claire Marti, thank you for this fabulously enjoyable story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Claire Marti could not have chosen a better cast to bring her characters and story to life. Vanessa Edwin and Tim Paige are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that suited the character’s persona, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the character to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

The narration made the book better

It was okay, but I felt like I had read it a thousand times before, down to some images and sentences.

There was at least one original trait in each main characters. Ryan, while being a hotel mogul, came from a blue collar family and was hard working–not your regular billionaire heir. As for Charlie, she was exactly from the other side of the tract, but would rather forget it and she, too, worked hard. But I hardly learned anything else about them.

The will-they-won’t-they waltz got tiring pretty fast, and once they do the deed, I didn’t see much love there. I blinked and they were promising forever to each other.

Their professional rivalry was interesting and kind of thrilling. I’d have enjoyed it more if they didn’t seem to choose opposite opinions just to spite each other. Especially never bending Ryan–that is, until he decides to love Charlie enough to think she has the best ideas ever.

The interactions with other characters were very entertaining though. There was banter, but also conversations about deeper subjects. It made for a good introduction to the series, as I suppose all the guys here will get their own love story.

The narration made the book better. Both narrators were excellent, and the emotions were there. I’m pretty sure I would have less enjoyed this book if I had read it.
