Eldritch horrors

A good collection, but there are some gaps such as Pickman’s model and Herbert West.

Cannot deny its influence on modern fiction

Initial disclaimer: the man was inexcusably xenophobic.

The man also had ideas which were a complete departure from the norm, and pop culture is the better for it.

After listening to every single story, I can now connect so many threads from modern sci fi, fantasy and horror to his original works and ideas that it is truly baffling.

1000% worth the listen. The adjectives are morbidly overused and the verbiage is grotesque and half repetitive (you'll see what I mean) but still an undeniable milestone in our understanding and love of the occult, supernatural and fantastical.

The narration is great in my opinion and matches the tone of the stories wonderfully.

Great collection

Loved it! I'm finding it very difficult to say if the HP Lovecraft Historical society rendition was better or not. However Horror Babble was awesome.

Excellent narration

Ian Gordon is the most skilled narrator I have come across on Audible by a long way. Will definitely be purchasing more recordings from HorrorBabble.

Lovecraft’s stories are classics and require no comment.

Very Good, let down by Audible's lack of features

Edit to add: Lovecraft had horrible racist views and it is apparent in many of the stories. Having read the books a number of times I find myself simultaneously appreciating the writing more but the racism becomes more apparent and offsets this. This isn't horrorbabbles problem, but as I give the stories a 5 star review I feel I should point that out.

The performance and quality is very good in my opinion. It is a shame audible doesn't have features to name each chapter, that makes this type of collections very hard to navigate... Also Audible, let us organise our own libraries into categories of our own choosing, I have 100's of books and it is a nightmare to find what I want to listen to.

OK here is me doing Audibles job... The contents of this Audiobook are as follows, each chapter number corresponds to these books, chapter 1 is an intro. Some of the larger books are split into separate chapters, I have labelled these as 2 3 4 etc. So Chapter 19 is The Dunwitch Horror part 5. Apologies if not spelled correctly. I am currently listening to 9: The Hound

The narrator does a good job, I think the voice matches the books well, I find it easy to listen to at night going to sleep and I have no issues with quality thus far.

The best adaptation to date.

As someone who's been reading HPL since I was about 11 (I'm now in my 40s) I've listened to a lot of adaptations from radio plays to society adaptations and everywhere in between.
Thus far, no one has been able to read in such a manner that WORKED for me, be it due to their timbre, speed or pronunciation of words..or so I thought.
A friend, knowing of my love for Lovectaft's works directed me to the YouTube channel for Horrorbabble and my love for Ian's work was born.
With great production values, a voice well suited to the style of writing and an clear understanding of the use of speed and volume in expressing suspense, Ian brings the work to life.
