Summary
Maggie Vine felt like the luckiest girl in the world. Life was perfect, until it wasn't.
When Maggie left her small-town Alabama home, she never thought she would return. Fourteen years later, Maggie finds herself driving back toward the town that she's missed and the people she abandoned; toward Rusty.
Rusty Jefferson was Maggie's best friend and first love, but she'd driven away in the middle of the night without a good-bye. Broken-hearted, the sweet boy everyone loved became hard and cold; closed off to the world, refusing to be hurt that way ever again. Now, she's back, right in front of them all, determined to rebuild the life she lost. Maggie sets about trying to build bridges and heal old wounds, but the secret that took her away all those years ago just refuses to stay buried, that secret, could destroy everything all over again.
Can Maggie get back what she once had? Can Rusty ever forgive her betrayal? There's only one place she can find out, the place she calls "home".

Amazingly heartfelt
This book is absolutely amazing and will pull at all your heart strings. I felt like I knew these characters personally and I felt what they were feeling. Between the great writing and narration my heart felt this book completely. This was probably the most emotional book I have ever experienced. It was happy and sad at the same time. I will never forget this book and I definitely recommend it. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

Rollercoaster of emotions
I was gifted this book in exchange for an open and honest review and I can honestly say I loved the story.
Maggie D returns home to small town Alabama after 14 years and is determined to mend bridges and rebuild the friendships she lost, especially with Rusty who was the love of her life but is now the cold hard hearted cowboy who closed himself off to the world when she left and broke his heart. But can things be fixed when the secret she carries is devastating to those she loves and she wonders if things can ever go back to the way they once were....
I have to be honest and say I did struggle with the narration a bit as the southern drawl accent is a little hard to listen to but over a few chapters you do get used to. I liked the way that effects were used by the narrator when one of the characters is on the other end of the phone or speaking through a microphone, that was really clever. I think slightly longer pauses were needed when the story jumps from one scene to the next during a chapter as found myself confused a few times when suddenly the story seems to have jumped forward a few weeks and there is barely a breathe taken but it's only a minor criticism.
The story itself brings about a whirlwind of emotions, it touches on so many themes and your heart is in your mouth at times and you are willing things to be ok for the characters. Cowboy romances are not really my genre but Cas has written this so well and Rusty is a gorgeous and very hot character that she has converted me and I can't wait to read the next in the series! Maggie feels very real and relatable and the other characters make you want to be part of the gang.
All in all this is a great book and Cas's writing skills are spot on, looking forward to more of her books.

A Country Romance
I loved being accompanied by this story, its believable characters and beautifully realistic romance. The book had me hooked within a few minutes, I completely related to Maggie’s character and wanted to know more about how she ended up where she was, and where her journey would take her. One of those stories that feels like a warm comfortable blanket when you need to escape from the real world, definitely recommended.

Heartfelt story of second chances
This was an enjoyable story, although I didn't necessarily understand the logic of the decisions taken at 15. It is well rounded with characters' reactions falling in the believable. It is an easy listen without too much angst to raise stress levels.

Satisfying and beautifully Romantic
From the moment I started the book I was able to step into Maggie’s shoes and share her journey to re find her ‘home’. It was heartbreaking, exciting and full of love all at once.
The country atmosphere was portrayed perfectly and I could visualise the Alabama setting and it’s characters throughout.
Maggie’s emotional and physical relationship with Rusty was particularly exhilarating and I waited in anticipation each time they met for where they would leave each other.
Home is a true romance that fulfils all of the readers expectations. I loved it.

Full of surprises
I love small town romances and second chances are a plus. I absolutely did not expect this story to go where it did. Rusty comes around but boy does Maggie keep surprising him and not necessarily in a good way. Enter Daniel and boy do things get dicey. Forgiveness is not easy for Rusty but Maggie doesn't give up. Amy Jo Steele has a beautiful voice and does a great job with the narration.
