Elijah looked outside of his staid home, or at least this is what they called home. He turned to his twin sister, Grace, who stared at him. Both of them looked into each other's eyes - full of fear. It was a new home, a new place, and Elijah didn't feel safe there.

"I don't like this," the boy said. He was dressed in dirty rags consisting of a jacket, a torn shirt, and pants. His twin sister was dressed in a long-sleeved dress and tights, both of them looking like they haven't bathed in days - which was the truth - for this ghetto was the hell on earth that they were given.

"Do you know how to get out of here," she asked? "I don't. But I don't like this. The last thing I remember is being knocked out. I don't think we're in France anymore," Elijah said.

Grace and Elijah were originally from France, living there because it wasn't so bad. Then came the invasion of France by the German soldiers, and Elijah and Grace were both knocked out, both of them unsure of what they remembered. Elijah tried to fight; he knew that judging from the prominent bruises, but he didn't fight enough to die, which was a good thing because he needed to be there for Grace. He was the only family that she had, and she was his.
