Summary
Dorky, socially awkward entomology student Evelyn wakes up one morning to find herself as some sort of alien-human hybrid trapped on an unknown planet.
Once the initial panic winds down, she quickly learns she's capable of producing more of herself: additional bodies all sharing one mind. Being well-versed in sci-fi tropes, she quickly resolves to not devour the planet and turn into an unflinching biological armada, and instead uses her new powers to try and help as many people as possible.
Unfortunately, it turns out that helping people is often very, very difficult. With dreams of Earth filtering into her mind as she sleeps, the mystery of what she is and how she got here slowly comes to light while her power and responsibility grows ever larger.
For an anxious young woman who was already struggling to get by in a normal life, it all feels like a bit too much.
Hive Minds Give Good Hugs is a story about mistakes, difficult choices, neurodivergency, and cool alien ecology. It's a very human story, even though Evelyn might never be one again.

Fantastic
I loved this book so much. The way the MCs neurodivergent thought process is recounted is so well done imo. Just so good thanks for writing this.

Beautiful Sci-fi
One of the best sci fi audiobooks I read in a while. Almost brought me to tears several times , I haven't wanted to meet a character more since reading Anne McCarthy. I hope there is a epilogue or continuation in future. The performance intertwines with the writing to evaluate the tale and while I disagree with some of the ideas it's portrayal of anxiety and personal thought was deeply impactful.

Single-handedly one of the best audiobooks I have ever listened to
The narrator does a great job and the story is amazing, I really hope the author will make a sequel.

Best characterization of an MC with A.D.D. yet
I was amazed! I came for the hivemind, stayed for the amazing characters, character progression and slowly becoming both less and mroe human.
I've read some of Thundamoo's previous work and was taken by her portrait of morally 'grey' characters in a 'grey' ethical world.
But here she ventures into the moral minefield of what I would mean to loose your individuality and the change in perspective that would bring. All done with some amazing and endearingly unique main characters.
Deals very well with social anxiety and a.d.d. both with an understanding and level headedness rarely seen in books, let alone SciFi.
I wish there was more!

I did not expect it to be this good
Just finished listening, and frankly, I am bowled over by this book. It combines easy listening at the beginning to complex thought patterns and follows up with a strong ending. Thought provoking and well read. There are moments where the text conversations could be better read out loud, but I feel these are suited in a book format. Honestly, it is worth your time listening to this book and to the author: if you have more ideas, it would be a delight to explore them 🙂

incredible
if I'm being completely honest I wasn't expecting such an in-depth story or characters, this book, aside from being an incredible story, is something I feel would be great reading for many schools, the science, moral dilemmas, and hints at the economic state of our world are thought provoking as well as being a joy to listen to. also as a fellow Zerg lover I was only slightly 'completely' biased towards a book about hiveminds 😁

What a Book!
Took a chance on this one, not really knowing what to expect. I am very glad that I did. It explores some fascinating alien concepts and touches on some weighty subjects, all while staying at its core deeply human! Well worth a credit!

A cut above
Fascinating story. Great concept. Perfect narrator. I am truly impressed with this author. The book is deep and dark and funny and sad. Definitely a cut above the usual examples of this genre. On a par with the wandering inn series and He who fights with monsters in terms of quality. If you enjoy science fiction and fantasy that is more Star Trek than Hogwarts, this is for you.

AMAZING! Where is the second book?
I'm can't believe I've skipped this book so many times (over the course of 6 or so months) thinking that I'm not going to like it. Listening to the sample and title made me think of "Super Sales on Super Heroes" by William D. Arad which is a great title as well. However, this one totally exceeded my expectations. I'm a bit worried though about the next book when it's going to come... if it's going to come because
*SPOILER ALLERT*
the way this first book ends kind of breaks from this new world the protagonist tries to survive and I'm not sure it's going to make the story better or worse if does. Like, ok.. from what I understand the mystery of how she got the powers and been brought on the strange alien planet needs to be resolved somehow, sometime... but I think we already see that coming so in my opinion that wouldn't make the story any better.
I think it would have been a lot cooler if she "evolved" by eating new species to the point where she could build a spaceship body herself then prepare to go back home at the end of the second book.
