Summary

She's innocent, inexperienced, virginal, and completely out of place. Now it's my personal mission to change all of that.

Sure, I'm also on this tour to play drums. A bit of blackmail got me the gig and out from under my parents' control. All I've ever wanted to is to live the rock star life, so I'm willing to do whatever it takes. Doesn't matter who gets hurt, as long as I get mine.

At least that's how it started.

This girl, she's gotten under my skin. Makes me want to be a better man. Has me dreaming of more than a life on the road. For a future of my own, as long as it includes her.

Only, I'm not sure how to make that happen. I can't tell her the truth, not when it won't set us free.

The books in the Off Track Records series are interconnected stand-alone romance novels, and can be listened to in any order.

A great listen

I wasn’t sure I was prepared for the next book in this series after listening to Derail, but thankfully, this one was easier on my emotions.

This is the third book in the off track records series and another wonderful instalment. We get to spend time with our favourite band back on tour.

Leighton is a musical prodigy that blackmails his way into the band, but then the tables are turned. I got a little frustrated with him at times but then had to remind myself of his age, which I think was harder due to the narration. See below for more about that.
Opal is a sweet, southern girl who we met in Detour, she’s Lex’s half sister and joins the band on tour as their PA. She is thrust into this world that she doesn’t really understand and is hit with a lot.

I love Leighton and Opal together, I thought they were really suited and loved their interactions. I liked that it had a love triangle feel to it at the beginning but once Opal knew, she knew. Although the conflict could have been avoided it made sense for their ages, and I liked that it wasn’t a quick fix, it took time and for them to really look into themselves and how they felt.

The way the band really looked out for Opal was so heartwarming and enamoured them to me again after my upset in the last book...I’m not saying I hold a grunge, but...you know, they needed to earn their swooning spots back.

The overuse of uncle and sister was a little distracting as it felt like a constant reminder of who the person was to them as opposed to just using their name. But it was something little that didn’t change my enjoyment of the story.

I love Jason Clarke, and I think the way this series has been cast with him narrating the entire band with different female narrators has been fantastic. But. Yes, I know, there is a but. Leighton is 18 years old, and Jason does not sound like an 18 year old. So it was a little tough it get lost in the story like the previous two. That being said, Jason was fabulous and his performance was filled with his usual skill and emotion. Savannah Peachwood was fantastic as Opal, it’s been quite some time since I last listened to a Savannah performance so it was great to have her in my years again. Her southern accent was pure perfection and her ability to perform the young and sweet Opal was spot on. Their voices complemented each other well, the transition from one to the other and the genders was smooth with just a slight difference in the depth of the southern accent. No production issues of note.

Leighton and Opal are two cutie patooties!

I’m not always a fan of virgin plot-lines but Opal is Lexie’s 18yr old half-sister so we’re all very protective of her (stay away, Austin! 🤣). The narration was superb- Jason Clarke is always on point and Savannah Peachwood did a great job with Opal’s country twang. Two thumbs up!! 👍 👍

loved it !

absolutely loved this audiobook, this book follows Opal ,a sassy girl who i feel we can all relate to, she just wants to live her life and have fun doing so and then she meets Leighton new drummer to 3 ugly guys , i loved how their story and feelings progressed despite everything thrown at Leighton to 'hinder' his chances, the narrators were perfect aswell but then you cant go wrong with Jason Clarke and savannah peachwood , they're amazing and really bring the story alive , one of my favourite audiobooks this year

I actually had to switch off and walk away...

...Sort of like that episode of Friends where Rachel explains to Joey that she puts books in the freezer when they get to a sad part... This was kinda like me, but I was angry! For a book to evoke this sort of reaction shows writing talent!

... I did get straight back to listening after a good coffee and grumble about the goings on in my fictional world!

What a fab third installment to this series. Perfectly created story and characters as always.

Do I even need to say how brilliant the narration was!?

... It was... But I know I didn't need to say that bit!

Book 3 in Kacey Shae rock and roll series . This story will have lots of mystery, attraction between the hero and heroine. You will see the 3UG pull together . At the beginning they don’t trust Vito their manager . You will see Opal again Lexi half sister . Lexi has an idea of how to help Opal after Opal had a run in with her grandfather. Leighton doesn’t want to go into classical music like his mother wants . Leighton comes a family that has it all , money , connections and Leighton finds a way to make his own way . He corners Vito his uncle to get him into the 3UG band as the drummer . Once Leighton sets his eye on Opal he looses his mind . Vito has something up his sleeve concerting the band and he tells Leighton if he wants to keep his place in the band he needs to find out why Opal is touring with the 3UG .
Vito sells Leighton out but the band all .

Jason Clark and Savanna Peachwood performance is fantastic. They brought this story to life .

Another beautifully written story!

Another beautifully written story in this fantastic series! Leighton and Opal come from different backgrounds and, despite their age, managed to make their relationship work. This isn't as steamy as the two previous books, but the storyline is so amazing that I don't find it lacking.

We also get to see how the characters in the previous books are doing. I just love seeing the camaraderie between the band members!

Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood were the perfect fit for Leighton and Opal. I recognized the characters based on the voices Jason Clarke gave them in the previous books!

Hinder is a slow burn, contemporary rock star romance written in dual first-person POV and narrated dual- style. It's a standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
