About this listen
Agnes' hard life from a young age leaves her feeling scorned and unloved. As she works long hours in the castle's kitchens, she is shunned by the other servants.
While Agnes accepts her lot in life, she is surprised when she encounters the Laird of Edinburgh, William. Although he is kind to her, Agnes knows he is only being polite. But William's heart flutters whenever he sees her.
But there is someone in the castle of Clan Anderson who does not want William to be around Agnes, and they will do whatever it takes to remove her from William's life. Too late, William realizes the deadly secrets of the castle and mourns the loss of Agnes deeply.

Betrayals at every turn
It seems when someone meets with tragedy, it never stops at that. To continue to live on in betrayal and believe that nothing better will ever come to you. Such is the way of most of us who endure these trials of life. Luckily, this story has a happy ending, at least. Well written and brought to life by the wonderful narrator Andrew McDermott. Well worth the listen.

Despicable Delilah's deceit nearly proves deadly
Poor Agnes has had to endure years of bullying and mistreatment at the hands of the despicable Delilah, head servant at the castle. In an effort to sabotage the growing romance between Agnes and William (the Laird), Delilah’s deceit nearly causes Agnes to lose her life. Fortunately, there is a happy ending, although I would have liked there to be a little more to the story as it seemed a bit of an abrupt finish after all the detail that Blair Keith went into during the earlier chapters in the book. Having said that, I did enjoy this romance and the interaction between William and Agnes. I fervently wished someone would commit GBH where Delilah was concerned, which is an indication of how engrossed I was in the storyline. As always, Andrew McDermott does a superb job with the narration and really brings the book to life.

Short and sweet
A nice storyline with very good narration I am definitely going to listen to more books by this author as it was a perfect historical romance.
