Summary

Easytown is the city of a thousand stories; tales of betrayed trusts, tarnished virtues, easily obtained vices, and street justice are common.

Treat yourself to a glimpse into the dark future world of New Orleans, where humanity's base desires have overshadowed common decency, and very few are willing to stand in the way. With 10 stories by seven well-known independent authors, High Tech/Low Life is guaranteed to please.

It's a gritty world, full of murky choices where the line between good and evil is smeared with blood. Welcome to Easytown.

With stories by Martin Allen, Chris Philbrook, Valerie Lioudis, Joseph Hansen, C.T. Phipps, J.B. Havens, and Brian Parker.

Many many tiny cool stories.

Brian Parker and six more great authors questioning freedom of choice in this last book of Easy Town Novels series.
About robots and slavery.
Any difference between Virtual reality and reality itself.

Beautiful narration by Michael Soma and Samantha Vega for each of the characters in all the stories.

My recommendations !!!

Oded Ostfeld.

No one escapes Easytown.

The Easytown novels by Brian Parker, starting with The Immorality Clause, are superb but this book of short stories based within the world was disappointing. Ten tales in total, three of which are by Parker, himself, and these are definitely the best, little vignettes which fit into the overall picture. It is possible that a couple of others are also good but this reader found their narration impossible, and had to abandon the story altogether. This was especially true of C.T.Phipps's offering, The Set-up.
The order of appearance is as follows (The number given is the chapter number on the Audible recording)
iii) Adam and Eve.............. Author not given
iv) Doing Busines .............Chris Philbrook
v). Duster,...........................Brian Parker
vi). Hindsight is 20/20.......Valerie Lioudis
vii) Misha ............................Joseph Hanson
viii) Roots..............................Brian Parker
ix) The Cigar Prince ..........Martin Allen
x) The Set Up......................C.T.Phipps
xi) Throw Aways ................Brian Parker
xii) Welcome to Easytown...J.B.Havens

Narration is divided between two people, Michael Soma, who mostly reads well, with good enunciation and some voice differentiation between characters, and Samantha Vegas, who's awfully accented voice, little girl timbre, unedited line fluffs and, often, very fast paced delivery made her extremely difficult to tolerate, let alone understand. Playback at 0.75 did not help, but simply made her sound more slurred. Fortunately, she reads only four of the ten shorts.

Whilst Brian Parker's Easytown novels are not to be missed, this book sadly adds little to the picture especially given the difficulties with the audio experience. Better to read a print version. My thanks to the rights holder of High Tech, Low Life who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy. A pity it was such a disappointment
