About this listen

Phenomenal #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents a spine-tingling novel about a female cop who walks fearlessly into danger - but must draw on her courage to let love into her life.

Police Lieutenant Phoebe MacNamara found her calling at an early age when a violently unstable man broke into her family’s home, trapping and terrorizing them for hours. Now she’s Savannah’s top hostage negotiator, who puts her life on the line every day to defuse powder-keg situations.

After watching her talk one of his employees off a roof ledge, Duncan Swift is committed to keeping this intriguing, take-charge woman in his life. Phoebe’s used to working solo, but she’s finding that no amount of negotiation can keep Duncan at arm’s length. Especially when a man throws a hood over Phoebe’s head and brutally assaults her - in her own precinct house - and threatening messages begin appearing on her doorstep. Duncan backs her up every step of the way, as she establishes contact with the faceless tormentor who is determined to make her a hostage to fear - before she becomes the final showdown.

High Noon by Nora Roberts.

What an absolute belter of a story. I can’t put into words how much I love Nora Roberts. Utterly amazing narrator too, she has read a few of this authors books and is a fabulous narrator. What’s not to love?

Negotiate a romance

There's something quite comforting about Nora Roberts' books, after getting a few unknown doozies lately, I knew I could rely on a tame drama with some romance, yay!

Phoebe is a hostage negotiator trying to cope with a nightmare work colleague, a possible mole in the unit and an agorophobic mum. Good thing a hunka chunka appears on the scene!

Excellent! If you can get over the cheesy narration

Loved this book, it took a while to get over the cheesy narration as it was a little cringe like! But the story and characters were great! Really well put together story and plot, another NR sure to delight readers and listeners

The best Nora Roberts

Her best story by far. Why is this not a movie? It would be fantastic! We all know there is a happy ending with Nora Roberts and I am grateful for that. This story is clever and well developed and takes us on an eventful journey. There is suspense, violence and death but we know love will conquer all. Thanks Nora for the feel good factor in a world that is way too determined to be bad.
