About this listen

Beneath the mountain, the king's reign of tyranny is absolute; the one troll with the capacity to challenge him is imprisoned for treason. Cecile has escaped the darkness of Trollus, but she learns all too quickly that she is not beyond the reach of the king's power. Or his manipulation.

Recovered from her injuries, she now lives with her mother in Trianon and graces the opera stage every night. By day she searches for the witch who has eluded the trolls for 500 years. Whether she succeeds or fails, the costs to those she cares about will be high. To find Anushka, she must delve into magic that is both dark and deadly. The witch is a clever creature, and Cecile might not just be the hunter. She might also be the hunted.

Predictable but good

Called the plot twist pretty early but the actors were marvellous! worth a listen but maybe not a repeat.

Wonderful

A great second book. Some second books in the series can become slow paced but not this one! So much interesting stuff happened and I loved learning about all the characters more :)

Excellent

The magic felt so real that I had myself scared to look down dark corridors.

Loved it, can't wait for next book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, Its just what they would like romance, danger and magic. Very well written and very well read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked all the Characters, it's told from the two main characters points of view from the way they feel to the way they see the world around them.

Have you listened to any of Erin Moon and Eric Michael Summerer ’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes, I loved Stolen Song Bird the first in the series, they read that the same way, very expressive you believe they are the characters.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Beauty And The Beast have nothing on this love affair!

Any additional comments?

If you like magic and romance you will love this.

fantastic!

I have swiftly fallen in love with this series but now dread listeners to the final installation as it will be the last!
I did however guess who Anushka was right at the very beginning of the very first book, call it writers hunch!

Slightly frustrating story line

Felt frustrated at the characters taking so long to work out who the witch was. it felt like being at the pantomime yelling 'shes behind you!'

Lost interest

difficult to like the heroine and the storyline of the relationship between the two main protagonists does not reflect the supposed bond and love they share
