Excellent
Really creepy and scary. Well written and narrated. The first book by the author I have read. Will be reading more.

Fun spooky tail
I must admit i started this book at 4 stars based purely on it being Giles Kristian and Philip Stevens. Love their previous work.
I enjoyed it very much, something a little different from Giles’ usual work. I now feel the need to go google this castle!

Terrifying, disturbing, brilliant
What starts as a fairly standard story about a mercenary company swiftly descends into brutal nightmare and brilliantly-written horror. Pro-tip; don’t fall asleep listening to this audiobook (like I did). The reader’s horribly convincing demonic guttural growl will wake you up and it will be enough to make you hide under the covers and want the light on

Historic fiction horror
Such a gruesome, brutal, and terrifying story by Giles Kristian and delivered with absolute conviction by Philip Steven. Consuming and captivating listen—the story was visceral.

Enjoyable romp but need to cleanse your space afterwards
GK and PS make a powerful combo and don’t realise how powerful they are with this story of darkness and demonic energies. As a spiritual person I felt listening to this made me quite vulnerable to psychic interference. It is very scary and calls in considerable demonic archetypes. I strongly suggest reciting a few prayers or cleansing your space or whatever it is you need to do to raise your frequency again after listening to this. It is DARK. It is still affecting me several days later. Part of me wishes I hadn’t listened to it, or had turned off when they descended the hole. I will now up my cleansing to clear the energy of this short story.

Best example of medieval horror out there
Very well written story about a group of knights that stumble across...well, you'll see. If you enjoy a good horror story, this won't disappoint other than the fact that it's so short. The author and narrator both did a fantastic job, and there's a bit of a surprise near the end to include the epilogue! The author knows quite a bit about medieval armor, horses, and battle tactics of that era, and it shows in his writing. If there's a negative, it's very short at about two hours, so I'd suggest only getting this if it's on sale. I never use credits on short stories, no matter how good they are, so wish list it and wait for one of the frequent sales Audible has

fun and gritty medieval action horror
Giles Kristian is an excellent wordsmith. the way he describes the action of the characters and the details of their weapons was always a thrill to listen to. certainly helped by the great narration of Phillip Stevens.
the story itself became a bit cliché towards the end, however I still highly recommend it as it is a good action medieval horror, which we dont see much of. short and sweet!

SOOO good!
I think this is the first actual review I have written on Audible (I rate every book however), but I though after listening to this short story I just had to!
I am a big fan of Giles Kristian, having read all of his books physically, but due to this being a short story it is only available digitally and I don't own a kindle, I like to hold an actual book!
The story itself is very well written, its very engrossing, I was lapping it up, the narrator is fantastic.
Being a short story it is very fast paced, which kept me all the more hooked in the story!
It is not for the faint hearted at all, this is a dark and brutal story.
My advice is to set yourself a couple of hours aside to listen to this in one go, you will not be disappointed.
