About this listen
Married to a ruthless prince, for years Max had to serve and obey the vicious magical nobles. Now, he is one of them.
When the heir to the throne attacks him, Max accidentally responds with a lethal burst of magic. Max is certain he will be executed. But his power is too rare and precious for that....
Instead, the king forces him to become the boy he killed, taking on the identity and duties of the heir. That includes an arranged marriage—to the dangerously attractive Prince Camron.
Living a lie, Max knows he can trust no one. Not Camron. And definitely not Simion, a handsome, dragon-riding spy sent to test his loyalty.
As a deadly struggle for power begins and desire sparks, Max must protect his secret and his heart at all costs.
Heir to Thorn and Flame is a passionate fantasy romance that will have you listening late into the night. Featuring slow-burn, dark secrets, arranged marriage, and found family, it is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Elise Kova, and C.S. Pacat.
Previously published as The Lost Mage, this expanded version begins a series that builds in heart-pounding tension and steam.

Beautiful descriptions with nothing to say
Beautiful descriptions but the story was almost nonexistent.
I loved the description which made me try this out. Unfortunately, if the described plot is completed more then half into the book, it just feels like spoilers.
I had to skip over some chapters at the end and honestly felt like I didn't miss anything.
Also, the twist wasn't surprising and Max seemed so naive. He's constantly being lied to and yet he belives everyone right away. No critical thinking.
Additionally it seems like the plot is happening to him instead of him having any agency which is pretty annoying.
Narrator gave a great performance. Made it as engaging as possible with what he was given

Great novel! Great story! 9 out of 10
The only thing that trouble me was figuring out which of the characters the narrator was voicing. Sometimes it sounded just the same and I was confused to which character the voice belonged too

A fantastic start to the trilogy that leaves you wanting more!
Loved that you could follow the twist and turns of this storyline so well whilst anchoring to the unexpected love story behind it!

A story with so much potential
The description of the story really drew me into buying the book. This book has all the elements for a superb story, but unfortunately it's not executed as well as it could be.
The characters make no sense and are very inconsistent, they swing wildly from one emotion to another. One minute they hate each other, then they're madly and passionately in love, only to hate each again.
The plot is hard to identify with and it's even harder to feel empathy for the main character who could have avoided half of what happened with a simple explanation instead of seemingly careening from crisis to crisis mainly caused by his incredibly gullible nature and inability to learn from past mistakes.
