Summary
After making a bad decision when she was very young, Kia Clementine finds herself in hell. Then, suddenly, within the time it takes for a shotgun to blast, her hell changes. Completely. Then, out of the blue, she sees Sampson Cooper, her celebrity crush. A man the whole world knows is decent. A man the world knows is loyal. A man the world knows is good. All of these very unlike her now dead husband. He's sitting at a table right next to hers. And she catches his eye.
Terrified of the interest Sam shows in her, Kia finds the courage to go out with him. Not long after, she shares her dark secrets, and Sam shares that he'll stop at nothing to gain her trust. As Sam leads Kia to heaven, Kia realizes that Sam is living his own hell. Although he gives her beauty and she gives him everything, he withholds his trust. Even with all the beauty Sam shows her, Kia wants it all. But Sam forces Kia to make a heartbreaking decision, and only she can decide. It's all or nothing.

Kristen Ashley gives us an amazing story with a lot of beauty and a lot of laughs too. Her writing is wonderful and powerful. And the narrator’s performance is one of the best I’ve ever listened to!

One of my favourites
A classic Kristen Ashley story to lose myself in. Romantic, sweet, with tension, jeopardy and smut, this is among her best. I wish she still wrote stories like this.
Most of the narration was great, but the terrible French accent and Thomas’s accent (I think it was supposed to be South African but it sounded Indian, English and Irish mangled together) was cringey to hear.

One of my favourites
When Kristen Ashley gets it right you appreciate what a good story teller she is. The characters can often be complex, with several storylines woven together. This book has the feel of Lady Luck and At Peace both of which I have revisited.
There is nothing quite like being drawn into a story by the first chapter . My only criticism would be the level of bad language which I think is not really necessary. Do people talk like this ? But even so, a very good book.

Awesome
Oh wow. This was a great narration of this wonderful and amazing book. Adding audible to a favourite book just enhances my experience every time I read and listen. Know I’ll reread and listen to this book often.

This listen was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. This is what I love about Kristen Ashley books.
I’d previously listened to Knight by KA, and gave it a terrible review because it was just awful in my opinion. I was really disappointed because all the other KA books I’ve listened to were fantastic, just like this one.
I am beyond thrilled that this book lived up to my expectations of her usual standards.
It was totally fabulous. Great storyline, fabulous characters, funny moments, plot twists, drama, romance and fittingly 🔥 sex scenes. Super narration with a few iffy attempts at accents, but I’ve heard far worse, most were good, and because it was such a great listen, I couldn’t really hold it against this book.
All round fabulous.
Definitely recommend 👍👍👍❤️🙂
