You are made of sound—listen deeply to the rhythms and stories of your audible body that ask to be noticed and integrated. With the power of the voice, you can heal your body layer by layer, awakening your cells while releasing long-held tensions, stress, and emotional trauma.

In this guide, pioneer sound healer Vickie Dodd shares her system for addressing trauma locked in the physical body with the potent healing quality of sound. Touching on the functions of the nervous system and the parasympathetic breath, she explains how sound travels the inner pathways of the body, eliciting responses from the memory of tissues and muscles while bypassing the mind. Sound can change the body’s tissues, rearrange posture, and release undigested emotional experiences. With experiential exercises, you can explore how to listen precisely and discover the rhythms of the areas of the body to be treated as well as how to intuit the sounds required for healing—your unique soundprint. Singing love songs to your shadow, you will transform negative patterns into harmonious ones and discover the grace and peace that arise as your body’s tales and tissues come to rest. Sound truly allows you to dialogue effectively with your body for release, restoration, and renewed vitality.

“Vickie Dodd, in her journey as a physical and spiritual healer, has gathered the results of the decades of her creating, searching, and re-searching into this magnificent book of full-body, sound, rhythm, and heartful meditation. As a body percussionist, poet, and vocalist, I have embraced wholeheartedly the whole-force physical, mental, and spiritual exercises she has shared in this book and found them to be transforming. Her call for awakening to the entire energetic field has been heard and felt, and I have responded.” — Brenda Bufalino, jazz and tap dancer, choreographer, singer, and poet

“I have been in the healing arts field for several decades and I had dabbled in sound such as mantras and Om, but I had never thought of using sound or my voice for my own physical and mental healing. This work that Vickie Dodd is presenting is helpful to anyone in the healing arts. On almost every page there are workable, easy-to-understand tools and methods that can aid anyone. This is a workbook, a textbook, and a roadmap to profound, breakthrough techniques for healing others and self. For the past few months I have been using my voice daily to release stress and align my emotional well-being. My voice is teaching me.” — Ralph “Corky” Matson, body-mind consultant and author of Prodigious Son: A Memoir of Mir

Intriguing Fascinating and Useful Guidance

(My name is Esther Morton. I am a black American Muslim living in Sweden since the 1990s I came here to introduce psycho-somatic acupressure, I'm an acupuncturist and community health educator by training. )
After only listening to 3 chapters of the book Healing Through Sound. I'm so excited that I feel I want to give feedback immediately I have actually sent the link to 3 or 4 distinct groups of people, for quite different reasons, which I think is indicative of the broad reach of this book and the many different arenas of human experience that the book addresses. Many people will benefit from reading listening to, and following the instructions and wisdom provided in the book.
I want to give realistic feedback. The introduction begins slowly and honestly, I thought, ‘Oh, I've heard it all before.’
I was humbled, however when the speaker described Vickie changing the shape of a Stone by sounding and massaging it-That got my attention!

As soon as Vicky's voice came onto the reading. My attention was riveted.
Just the sound of her voice affected some inner part of my being that said 'I trust this voice, and I want to hear what it has to say.'

I'm glad I continued to listen and didn't scroll, because very soon she started to describe her childhood experience and there was an exciting moment of recognition, Ah! She knows! She's experienced this and she describes exquisitely what it's like to be a child who has a special nervous systems. All nervous systems are unique. Some are special
A sensitive child's nervous system can easily be overwhelmed by the amount of information that it absorbs from the environment in which it is living. The child is almost drowning in this information and needing to find a way to process, manage and find a way to navigate through the information that it is receiving from the adult environment.

This is the experience of many.
Therefore, the first group of people that I thought of immediately were those who have various diagnoses in the alphabet soup of: ADHD, autism, highly sensitive people, etc.
This description of her childhood experience and of the attempt that she made to manage the environment in which she found herself, is very telling, and well-presented. She very quickly provides tools for managing the situation and also insight into common response patterns that are counterproductive, which is perhaps, even more interesting. She discusses a special form of energetic co-dependency that develops as a way to protect oneself from being overwhelmed; a life changing insight!

Immediately I thought, why are there not hashtags about special needs, ADHD Energy Medicine, highly sensitive people, co-dependence etc?

One of the gifts of this book is the suggestion that what are often considered dysfunctions or disorders might actually be gifts if they are managed skilfully.!
The second group of potential readers emerged immediately: trainers, coaches, therapists, social workers, who are on the front line of the epidemic of anxiety, trauma, and stress related problems potentially at the core of addictions .
Vickie gives very precise and effective tools for those who are working on that front line to use to care for themselves as well as to teach to the people with whom they work.
These extremely simple useful tools appear very early on in the book.
That's another set of hashtags: PTSD, trauma, psychology, sociology, self- development etc.

For the spiritual seeker, Vickie speaks about the training of elephants, to explain, using ancient techniques such as Mantra, as tools for focusing the nervous system

Vickie goes on cite research, inviting us to the exploration of the fluid aspect of our beings, leading to a completely new experience of what it means to live in a body.

Vickie does it so skilfully, and the invitation is so subtle that you're pulled into it, and suddenly you find yourself in the unexplored territory of your inner, physical being and the ways in which it responds to your attention and to sound!
Fascinating and intriguing!

Her experience with researchers, suggests that neuro-science using sophisticated machines can track the evolution of our exploration of the human nervous system by the human nervous system.
Hashtag: neuroscience?

Vickie's book is a gift to mankind from an elder. I pray and hope that skilful marketing will place this very useful handbook for human evolution and exploration into the hands of all the people who would benefit from it. Thank you.

The depth of knowledge

I really enjoyed listening to Vickie reading her own book. There is so much information that I will be listening to it again. Being a student of sound healing at the moment, I was looking for more evidence based literature and I found it here. I already believe that sound can have a huge impact on our well being and thankfully Vickie has an amazing relationship with sound and movement which she has developed over 50 years of personal study. I resonated deeply with everything that Vickie spoke of and have watched nearly all her videos on her website too. I find her work to be incredibly inspirational and I hope to continue learning more by experimenting with the exercises she offers throughout the book. This book doesn't only tell you how sound coming into the body can assist healing, Vickie understands that there needs to be an emptying aswell. This was missing from my previous understanding and this is what I needed. How can you absorb if you're already full up? Thank you Vickie, I am so grateful 🙏
